Stronger Families Together | South Dakota Department of Social Services - State Office

Stronger Families Together is an initiative to recruit foster/adoptive families in South Dakota. Foster families are needed for children of all ages, sex, race, and ethnicity. To apply, Complete the "Commit to Know More" form. Upon completion, the family will be contacted and provided additional information. If an individual/couple chooses to continue the foster parent licensing process, a home consultation will be completed. They will receive more information about becoming a foster parent, and a preliminary safety check of the home will be completed. The next step is preservice training for foster care licensing and/or adoption approval. Upon completion of the training, a final assessment is completed to determine if licensing requirements are met.
