VSO's educate, advocate, and assist qualified veterans, dependents and survivors, searching and applying for Federal and State Benefits. Qualified benefits are directly related to a veterans time serving their country. Examples of what VSO's can assist qualified citizens with are: disability compensation, enrolling in VA Health Care, appeals, pension benefits, education information, submit requests for DD214's, burial benefits, correction of military records, survivor benefits, discharge upgrades, state benefits (states veteran home, state education benefits, and SD Bonus), and referrals. Veterans are encouraged to register their discharge information (DD Form 214, Report of Separation) with the County Registrar of Deeds Office.
