Equalization responsibilities includes to ensure all property in the county is accounted for on the tax list. Ensure properties are all assessed in an equal and uniform manner. Only when the assessments of the property are fair and equal can the tax burden be distributed fair and equal. Planning & Zoning responsibilities include Issues building permits and 911 Addresses, and assists property owners with plats, conditional use permits, and variances. The Zoning Ordinance explains the different zoning districts, as well as the permitted principal uses and structures, permitted accessory uses and structures, conditional uses, and prohibited uses and structures for each district.
