Animal Bite Complaints: If someone is bitten by an animal, they should call the Animal Services and Enforcement Office. Found Animals: May be taken to the Human Society of the Black Hills (HSBH) shelter. If interested in keeping the found animal, the animal needs to be scanned for a microchip as the animal may have a family that is looking for it. If unable to safely catch an animal please contact animal control for assistance. Lost Animals: HSBH receives 5 - 30 animals daily, when a stray is placed at the HSBH, the owner has 3 business days to reclaim the lost pet. If the 3 days have passed, the pet may be placed for adoption. It is very important to visit the HSBH shelter frequently to see if pet has been found. HSBH checks for microchips, if animal has a microchip please call to verify that the microchip information is up to date. Report Abuse: If abuse, neglect, or abandonment is suspected, please report it immediately.
