South Dakota Women's Prison | South Dakota Department of Corrections

The facility includes the state Women's Prison, the Central Office of the state Department of Corrections, Pierre Police Department, Hughes County Sheriff's office, a State Highway Patrol station, and State Division of Criminal Investigation agents. The Pierre Minimum Center houses minimum-security inmates on work release and community service status. Inmates can take classes for literacy, Adult Basic Education and GED as well as receive treatment for chemical dependency and for sex offenses. The state Department of Corrections provides medical, dental, optometric services, mental health, and chemical dependency services for the adult corrections system. Treatment is also offered for sex offenders. Video visitation is now available. Must be scheduled in advance.
