Christmas Trees can be dropped off between Saturday, December 26, 2026 - Sunday, January 3, 2027 (closed on Friday, January 1, 2027). The drop locations are:
  • West Side: 100 N. Lyon Boulevard: Now located behind the Taco Bell on Lyon Boulevard. Access is available:
From W. 12th Street to N. Lyon Boulevard From W. Madison Street to N. Lyon Boulevard
  • East Side: 1015 E. Chambers Street: West of N. Cliff Avenue (by the Hazardous Waste Facility and Street Department, North of Morrell's). Access is available:
From N. Drive to E. Ash Street to Chambers Street From N. Cliff Avenue to Chambers Street The driveway just west of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be the only access point. The Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill located 5 miles west of Sioux Falls on 41st Street Residents are required to remove any decorations, stands, wire, or plastic bags. Christmas wreaths are not accepted. Commercial vendors and larger loads will not be accepted and must go directly to the Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill.

Public Works manages the Streets, Utilities, Landfill, and Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHWF) for the city of Sioux Falls. We also facilitate the planning, design, and construction of the city's annual capital improvement plan. Responsible for​​ maintaining the streets, including snow removal; delivering fresh drinking water; collecting and treating wastewater; maintaining the storm sewer system; delivering power to our power customers while maintaining the street light system; and operating the Regional Landfill and HHWF.
