Fees

$38.00 for new and renewal ID/DL; $43.00 for CDL License, $20.00 for CDL Endorsement; $20.00 for duplicate ID/DL, $2.00 or 2.95% (whichever is greater) processing fee for credit card payments.

The South Dakota Driver's License Program is responsible for individuals that are applying for a South Dakota Driver's License or Identification Card.

For driver tests, duplicates, and renewals

Either call (605) 773-6883 between 8:00am - 5:00pm to schedule an appointment or schedule online. Driver tests must be scheduled, at least two weeks before the desired test date.

Now available in Spanish: driver license application, study manuals and written test. Driving part of the test is still given via English as the spoken language.
