14 years of age and older to apply for driver license. Any age can apply for an identification card.
Hours
7:30am - 5:30pm (CT), every Friday and the 5th Thursday of the month.
(Applications accepted until 4:30pm) No outside access to the building after 5:00pm.

Walk in or by appointment. Drive test must be scheduled.
Fees
$38.00 for new and renewal ID/DL; $43.00 for CDL License, $20.00 for CDL Endorsement; $20.00 for duplicate ID/DL, $2.00 or 2.95% (whichever is greater) processing fee for credit card payments.

The South Dakota Driver's License Program is responsible for individuals that are applying for a South Dakota Driver's License or Identification Card.

- For driver tests, duplicates, and renewals, you must either call (605) 773-6883 between 8:00am - 5:00pm to schedule an appointment or schedule online at www.dps.sd.gov. Driver tests must be scheduled, at least two weeks before the desired test date.
