Stand Up for Women Veterans Initiative | Community Action for Veterans
The Stand Up for Women Veterans Initiative identifies and addresses barriers to well-being for military-connected women (MCW) in South Dakota. With the increase number of women in the military, most services are still designed for men, creating gaps in support. Using a public health approach, the project collaborates with partners to improve access to culturally responsive resources and enhance outcomes for MCW. A key component of the initiative is the Stand Up for Women Veterans Retreat, which empowers women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces by fostering leadership, promoting well-being, and strengthening peer connections.
