Works toward goals of the Sustainability Program by partnering both internally and externally with city departments and organizations. Programs include education and outreach, recycling reporting, regulation, and tracking programs for five county area of Sioux Falls, coordinate existing and implement new waste diversion programs in Sioux Falls, and research and implement new sustainability initiatives.

Public Works manages the Streets, Utilities, Landfill, and Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHWF) for the city of Sioux Falls. We also facilitate the planning, design, and construction of the city's annual capital improvement plan.
Responsible for maintaining the streets, including snow removal; delivering fresh drinking water; collecting and treating wastewater; maintaining the storm sewer system; delivering power to our power customers while maintaining the street light system; and operating the Regional Landfill and HHWF.
