Homeownership Program | Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity
Habitat clients help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Homeowner Information meetings are held to allow families to learn about the program, the requirements (e.g., sweat equity), the benefits, and receive an application. Returned applications are reviewed by the Family Selection committee, whose members include local mortgage lending experts who ensure that families have the resources to complete the program requirements. Targeted clients are families earning up to 80% of the county area median income who also meet the minimum income requirement. Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is an Equal Housing Lender.
