The South Dakota Office of Homeland Security works to prevent terrorism, enhance security and support response for all-hazards incidents. Areas of focus include: - Prevention of terrorism - Enhancement of security - Responding to emergencies/disasters - Coordinating an extensive information sharing network between all levels of government, local officials and private partners - Assisting all city, county, state and tribal governments with an ongoing assessment of their jurisdictions to determine their preparedness capabilities - Administering Homeland Security grant funds to assist city, county, state and tribal governments to secure the resources needed to both prevent manmade disasters and to respond and recover from all hazards should they occur - Administering the School Safety Program in South Dakota
