Provides gas, electric or water utility assistance for bills at least 30 days past due with a shut off notice (cannot help with current bills). Call for qualifications and appointment time. TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) is a federal program which helps supplement the diets of low-income families by providing emergency food and nutrition assistance at no cost. Option 1: TEFAP Food Only: Protein along with nutritional staple(s). If no ID, complete 1 TEFAP Self Declaration form Option 2: TEFAP & Other Food: Protein, canned goods along with nutritional staples. Picture ID and proof of residence required and 2 forms to complete. Household Voucher: Items used to cook and eat a meal or other household goods such as bed linens, towels, etc. are available from the thrift store 1 time every 3 years. Items are based upon availability and may vary. To qualify, a picture ID is required along with a current lease or rental agreement. Clothing Voucher: Clothing assistance is available every 3 months per individual from thrift store. To qualify, a picture ID is required along with verification for additional individuals in the household such as medical cards, birth certificates, etc. Items are based upon availability and may vary. Pathway of Hope: Long term case management program to help individuals and families move beyond crisis into stability and self sufficiency. To qualify, individuals are required to meet with a caseworker to design a plan to meet goals, needs and objectives (goal setting, financial counseling, assistance getting healthcare, educational opportunities, etc.). St. Vincent de Paul Society attempts to provide assistance to those in need (within Sioux Falls city limits) with: Rent and utilities Food (voucher only) Cleaning supplies/hygiene items (voucher only) Prescriptions (voucher only) - Clothing, household items, furniture (no mattresses) if unable to purchase, call St. Vincent helpline to request voucher to Thrift Store via home visit Items available at the Thrift Store are based on the donations received Please note: The Society does not provide assistance with rent deposits or fuel for vehicles.

Provides emergency assistance for those in either Minnehaha/Lincoln County with rent and deposits, Utility bills: Must have a disconnect notice for water, lights, or heating; Food and non-food items, Burial: Clients should begin by choosing a funeral home and meet with them prior to applying for assistance through Minnehaha County. Also provides transportation assistance, dental care, medical care (hospitalization) and Medications. Minnehaha County residents can also receive assistance with Shelter, Gasoline or bus ticket for transients/nonresidents stranded here and needing to get home. Out of town travel assistance is not offered to MC residents. Identification and or birth certificate (if needed for the purposes of obtaining employment/housing). The majority of assistance provided is in the form of a no-interest loan for which a lien is created. The client does not receive any bill from County but is expected to repay the debt, starting in a time frame created by the caseworker. Applicants can choose to walk-in to the office or receive a phone call to complete an interview. Those applying for transportation, medications or ID/BC assistance should come into the office to apply.
