A non-profit organization of Christian volunteers who help economically disadvantaged families and individuals in the Sioux Falls and surrounding communities with furniture (including mattresses) free of charge to help them furnish their home. Furniture - referral process: - Be referred from a community agency (ex: Center of Hope, Lutheran Social Services, Children's Home Shelter for Family Safety , St. Francis House, Church, School, Hospitals, etc.) Have a completed referral form via the website or via Helpline Center Network of Care Have not used the services in the past 2 year. After the referral has been sent: The Furniture Mission will be calling to schedule an appointment - If clients are unable to pick up the furniture on there own there is usually a two week waiting list for delivery of furniture Deliveries will only be done via curbside service. Furniture Mission will leave the items outside, and applicants must finish the work of bringing it into the home/residence. The truck will wait for a 15 minute window after delivery time, and if no one is present, the furniture will be loaded back up.

The Connection Center is a place for people in the community to call in and feel heard. Connection Center volunteers help assess the needs of the caller and are able to provide a referral to the most appropriate help source. Once their need is verified and understood more fully, participants work side-by-side with church volunteers. The end goal is that once their resource or need is met, they have a relationship built and they feel like they have strength to step out of their situation. The Connection Center coordinates the following programs within Love INC and ministries from partner churches: Furniture: Couches, mattresses, bed frames, dressers etc. Furniture Ministry Team helps with pick-ups and deliveries. The Love INC Clearinghouse takes over 1,200 requests for help each year. These calls are answered by caring volunteers who listen to understand people's situations and direct them to the most appropriate source of help. This can mean a referral to an area agency or services provided by area churches and volunteers through the Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse coordinates the following programs within Love INC. - Furniture: Furniture Ministry Team helps with pick ups and deliveries Financial stability - paying own rent for 3 months; adequate income to pay bills; current on bills, volunteer service required to receive furniture. Appliances: (washers and dryers) the Furniture Ministry Team helps with pick ups and deliveries Household items provided as available: pots, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, coffee pot, toaster, microwave and other small electrical appliances. Must live in residence before applying. Linens: includes bedding of all sizes of sheets and blankets

Encore Family Store (Lake County) has clothing and other household goods for persons who wish to use the store's services. If an income-eligible person or family cannot afford to purchase the clothing, the Community Service Worker in that county can provide a voucher that allows the person or family to get the clothing at no charge.
