A full continuum of mental health and treatment for substance use disorders. Services include assessments, individual and family counseling, intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment, residential treatment for pregnant and parenting women who face substance use disorders, transitional care and aftercare counseling for adults and adolescents, trauma-focused treatment for children/adolescents and their families impacted by traumatic events. This can address a multitude of circumstances including COVID-related trauma, physical, sexual and emotional abuse, witness of violence, household incarceration, family substance abuse or mental illness, parent separation or divorce, medical, grief or refugee trauma, and bullying, neglect, disasters and more. ​Also offers MRT (Moral Recognition Therapy), CBISA (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention Substance Abuse), and Telehealth services.

Provides immediate shelter and crisis intervention services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse and neglect. Immediate shelter services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Trained staff is on-site to assist with the needs of anyone with safety issues seeking shelter. Case management, counseling, advocacy, support groups, parenting groups, and activities for children are offered and provided. Meals are provided and personal care items and clothing are available as needed at no cost to the client. Crisis intervention services include crisis phone, crisis drop-in counseling, support groups, parenting classes, 911 phones to public, safety planning, referrals to community resources, assistance with filling out protection orders, and court advocacy. Applications available to help victims of crime apply for victims compensation. Individual, child and family counseling is available to victims of abuse. Public education presentations are available upon request.

Sioux Area Metro (SAM) provides intra-city public transportation. SAM provides a fixed route transit service for the general public and a Paratransit service for citizens that cannot ride the fixed-route bus. Individuals desiring to utilize Paratransit services should call to set-up an interview to determine eligibility. There are several options regarding how to pay the bus fare: Pay on Bus: Each bus entrance has a fare box where you can pay with cash. Insert your fare into the fare box next to the driver, then take a seat. Make sure you have exact change because our drivers cannot make change. Pay at Lewis Drug: Passes can be purchased from any Lewis Drug in Sioux Falls, SD. Passes may be purchased with cash (change provided) or credit card. - Pay from Token Transit App: The app can be downloaded on a cell phone and individuals can buy and send passes to other individuals through the app. Once the ticket is purchased, show the pulsing circle on the app to the bus driver. Pay from a SAM location: Passes can be purchased from the Bus Stop located at 120 E. 11th Street or the Sioux Area Metro Office, 500 E. 6th Street. Passes may be purchased with cash (change provided) or credit card. - Pay via Mail: Passes may also be purchased by mail. To educate, advocate for and empower survivors of domestic abuse and violence (as well as coercive control, human trafficking, sexual assault, dating abuse and violence, child abuse, adults molested as children, other victims of violence crimes, stalking and elder abuse) and their dependents. Engages communities in promoting no tolerance of domestic abuse and violence. Services include answers crisis calls 24/7 and follow ups with victims, Gives referrals and maintains a Shelter Safe House in Redfield (7 beds for up to 10 victims), Assists victims in finding attorneys, obtaining protection orders, attending court, and working with law enforcement. Also assists victims find jobs and housing to work towards independent living and works as medical advocates by accompanying victims to the hospital when obtaining medical assistance for injuries or sexual assault. Brings awareness to help prevent acts of violence by speaking to church groups and civic organizations as well as presentations in all 7 public schools in the tri-county area to teach awareness of bullying and safe dating to 8th graders and safety when starting college to high school seniors.

Provides shelter, case management, life skills, and education services to young people ages 16 to 21, who are preparing for independent living. The program provides young people with a safe, supportive environment while they learn the skills necessary to succeed on their own. The VOA Axis180 offers safe, affordable shelter, life skills education and training, interpersonal skill building, education completion, job preparation skills, mental and physical health care, and case management. 2-bedroom units available for youth who are parenting. ​The goal of the VOA Axis180 is to assist homeless young people in making a successful transition to self sufficiency, prevent long-term dependency on the social services system, and provide an option for older youth who need assistance in transitioning into adulthood.
