The Auditor is the keeper of County records and acts as a bookkeeper of County business. Provides the food vouchers, prescription expense assistance (medicine only), vision expense assistance (eyeglasses and contacts), and personal care items (laundry soap, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items). Please note, prescription assistance is for those without insurance and it is for one time only! Personal care assistance is once in a calendar year.

Services provided by this office are a last resort. If eligibility criteria are met, assistance may include burial assistance, medical expense assistance, utility assistance, and rent assistance.

Provides assistance with non-emergency medical transportation and other medical appointment related needs.

Through its community-wide fundraising efforts, the Capital Area United Way helps to support 35 programs and services offered through 15 local United Way funded agencies. Supports Community Impact Programs that help improve the lives of people affected by issues such as health, income and education. Programs include Girls on the Run/Girls on Track serves girls in 3-8th grade and helps prepare them for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Imagination Library provides free books to children, ages 0-5, who reside in Hughes and Stanley counties. Mobile Dental Program helps children who don't have access to dental care. Project H.E.R.O. provides milk tickets and emergency transportation tickets to students to ensure they are healthy and able to get to school on time, and ready to learn; and the Lion's Club Vision Screening. Serves as a connecting place for volunteer opportunities. Agencies share that information through a publication in the paper called Volunteer Connections, as well as in the high school newspaper. Also, helps connects groups looking for a project with agencies needing volunteers.

• Provides both economic and medical assistance to residents of Beadle County on a one time basis. Economic assistance is for current amounts only. No payment for deposits of any kind. Rent, Utility assistance for current bills may be available for water, lights, and heating, and Medical, hospitalization, and burial assistance requires pre-approval if not for emergency services.

All other resources must have been exhausted first. Assistance does require payback and county lien is filed until paid in full. Planning & Zoning services include:

• Takes applications for building permits, administers the County zoning ordinances and makes recommendations to the Commission for granting or denying the permits. Assist with educational programs, Investigate complaints and zoning violation, Modify county ordinances, Prepare annual department budget and public meeting agendas, Property rezoning and platting, Review concentrated animal feeding operations, and Site plan reviews.

Update County Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission on current activities, trends, changes in law, and policies. -

Notary Public services available. Some fees may apply. Administers all elections at the county level or above. LifeSight provides four primary programs:

• KidsFIRST: provides free vision screenings for pre-school and elementary school children by means of partnerships with area eye care professionals and local volunteers. To schedule a KidsFIRST free vision screening, contact LifeSight at 605-716-6733. Screenings are available for children 6 months of age - 5th grade.
• Gift of Sight: provides sight-saving surgeries to those in our community without the financial means to afford care, helping these individuals regain their vision, and most importantly, independence, mobility and quality of life. This program is available only by referral from an area eye doctor (optometrist or ophthalmologist).

- VisionCARE: provides no-cost eye exams and glasses, critical to one's overall health and wellbeing, to individuals who meet program criteria and have no other option for care, providing a simple but powerful path to helping people see better to live better. • Scholarship Program: Annually awards the LifeSight Dr. Paul L. Zimmerman Memorial Endowed Scholarship to a fourth year student at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine planning to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

LifeSight does not offer Eye Examinations, but serves as a resource and referral contact for those with vision impairment.

Healthcare and emergency dental care to financially eligible residents of the northern Black Hills, ages 19-94, regardless of health insurance status. The Lead clinic provides medical services only. Patients at the Lead clinic may visit the Spearfish location for dental services. Referrals are made for diagnostic imaging or radiology, general lab tests and flu vaccines. ​​Works with 7 pharmacies in Belle Fourche, Deadwood, Lead, Spearfish and Sturgis.

Provides a full range of primary healthcare services including physical exams, chronic disease management, acute illness management, physicals, well child exams, children/adolescent/men/women healthcare services, immunizations, telemedicine related to medical and mental health needs, certified laboratory services, All Women Count services, assistance with Marketplace insurance enrollment, and allergy injections. Some sites provide Department of Transportation physicals. Nurse triage available for after-hours calls. Situation will be assessed by a registered nurse with further guidance provided. Strives to meet the needs of all patients, including the underinsured and underserved and offers services at a reduced rate to those who qualify.

Based on eligibility guidelines, office provides Indigent Medical Expenses, Indigent Burial Expenses, and General poor relief Applicant is required by law to repay the county for assistance given, per SDCL 28-14. County is payer of last resort.

Provides assistance with indigent individuals that are residents of Brule County for emergency hospitalization bills and burial costs. Also, is a voter registration location, can provide election information, is a point of contact for the county commission and has a notary public.

Delta Dental's mobile truck provides quality care to children from first tooth through age 21 who can't afford or access a dentist. Service is provided at no cost to the family, and no insurance is necessary. The van travels to different communities, and is not an ongoing service (typically happens 1 or 2 times a year at a location).

Horizon Health - Wessington Springs Medical is a full-service medical clinic offering the following services - preventative screenings, acute care, chronic care management, well child visits, men's and women's health, immunizations, family planning, lab/x-ray, patient education, care management, DOT exams, after-hours access to care, and Certified Application Counselors for the Health Insurance Marketplace. Also offers behavioral health services: medication management, counseling, case management, integrated care, addiction services, and Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT). Horizon Health - Wessington Springs Dental provides a full range of family oral health services including preventative care (check ups, fillings), restorative and cosmetic dentistry (crowns, bridges) , endodontics, and oral surgery (root canals, extractions).

The Auditor's Office also handles requests for one-time economic assistance that may include Rent, Utility for current bills, May be available for water, lights, heating, Medical, hospitalization, and burial assistance requires pre-approval if not for emergency services. Patients can set up a payment plan by calling Patient Financial Services. Sanford Health also offers Financial Assistance for emergency and other medically necessary services provided and billed through centralized Patient Financial Services. Patients can call to request an application, or can visit the registration representative at the clinic or hospital and they will be able to provide an application. The patient will need to return the application completed in its entirety along with: Copy of most recent complete tax return, including all schedules. Copies of the two most recent pay stubs for each wage earner in the household. Copies of property tax assessment statements Applications will be reviewed and a decision will be communicated within 30 days. All information is confidential. Elder Angel Funds are available through a short application process to help low-income senior citizens with everyday expenses such as utilities, groceries, clothing, medical co-pays, prescriptions, etc.

Falls Community Health is a family practice medical clinic and dental clinic with emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention. The Community Health Center was established in 1979 with its goal being to remove the barriers, primarily financial, that exist and limit the access of lower income individuals or families seeking primary health care services.  ​Services for the general public include family health, lab radiology, well-child care, immunizations, family planning (including birth control, STD screening and treatment), patient education, and dental care. Services for established clinic patients include outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling, psychiatry services, transportation assistance (transporter of last resort), and pharmacy assistance to clients of the Falls Community Health Care Clinic.
