Workshops offer: Skill and idea description and demonstration Opportunity for couples to practice skills privately Participants have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss their experiences if they would like - Introduction to Mindfulness: What happens in your life depends on your mind - Social Skills Group: For 10-15 year olds struggling with social skills or fitting in. Understanding Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder: For children ages 5 - 11 and their birth, foster, or adoptive parents. While the parents or parenting team is involved in education, supportive discussion and training, the children will gather in a separate group to work on developmental and behavioral issues. - Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Participants are taught to assess for risk of suicide or harm; listen non-judgmentally; give reassurance and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies. - Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Participants are taught to assess for risk of suicide or harm; listen non-judgmentally; give reassurance and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies. All within the context of helping the youth population.

The ALS Association seeks to discover the cause and cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) through dedicated research while providing patient support, information/education for health care professionals and the general public, and advocacy for ALS research and health care concerns.

The state of South Dakota has regionally based staff to provide support and technical assistance to high school students with disabilities and their families, local education agencies, and agencies seeking information on transition planning. Activities provided by the regional transition liaisons can include: Training to students, families, schools, and adult service agencies on transition and development of transition plans Identifying and obtaining instructional materials and assistance with implementation of self determination curriculum Student leadership activities; Youth Leadership Forum (YLF); and one-day events: 'Catch the College Wave', and 'Let's Talk Work' Individual support and/or assistance Post-secondary linkages

Strives to advocate for the rights of people who have disabilities in the community. Throughout the year, specific events are held to bring awareness and information to Brookings citizens. Technical assistance is provided to the business community, private individuals, governmental entities and nonprofit organizations. This is a service not provided by any other entity in Brookings. The goals of this service are to improve the quality of life for people who have disabilities through enhancing the knowledge base of entities in the community and to further serve as a community-based advocacy group enhancing the ability of local entities to comply with federal civil rights legislation.

Provides technical assistance, training, and resources to families and service providers of children aged birth to 21 with varying levels of both hearing and vision loss. Services are geared toward improving educational outcomes in order to help prepare them for eventual transition into adulthood. Technical assistance and support services include: understanding vision and hearing loss, developing communication skills, using accommodations and technology, assisting with the development of educational plans and meaningful strategies, daily living skills, and transitioning across life stages.
