The WPRC seeks to divert or delay those we serve from substance use and other high-risk behaviors to promote
choices/behaviors resulting in lifelong mind and body wellness. The WPRC primarily focuses prevention support services to stakeholders in South Dakota's 22 westernmost counties, but often serves an even broader audience. The WPRC's services include providing education, technical assistance, training and other support to prevention service providers, youth, parents, educators, community groups, social service providers, health/wellness agencies, chemical dependency service providers, law enforcement and other community wellness stakeholders.
WPRC staff can provide community education and information on a broad range of prevention topics. These topics include:
Individual drugs (alcohol, nicotine, vaping, marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl, etc.)
Trends in drug use
Over the counter drug misuse
The science of chemical dependence (brain and body)
Risky behavior marketing

The WPRC maintains a traditional library of books and other media relating to prevention, health and wellness. Visit the website to create an account to access the e-library. Both are no cost and open to all.

Group sessions are available at different times throughout the year. Some of the group sessions offered include:
- Corrective Thinking: For youth ages 13 - 18 to help members identify:
- Couples Workshops: For couples who wish to enhance their relationship, whether or not they are having difficulties. Workshops offer:
- Introduction to Mindfulness: What happens in your life depends on your mind
- Social Skills Group: For 10-15 year olds struggling with social skills or fitting in.
- Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Participants are taught to assess for risk of suicide or harm; listen non-judgmentally; give reassurance and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies.
- Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Offered periodically. Participants are taught to assess for risk of suicide or harm; listen non-judgmentally; give reassurance and information; encourage appropriate professional help; and encourage self-help and other support strategies. All within the context of helping the youth population.

A free, relationship enrichment program open to the public. It serves individuals, couples, and families. The goal of the program is for participating adults to develop the skills they need to experience healthy relationships and improve their path toward financial wellness and employability.
Relationship education and family support topics include: communication skill, controlling emotions, conflict resolution, making wise choices, setting life goals, mentorship, stress management, advocacy, and parenting strategies.
Financial wellness/employability services include: financial literacy, job search assistance, money management, joint budgeting, interview practice, resume coaching, and job skills and interest assessments.

8-week classes hosted by local area churches and offered every quarter of the year, please check website for current location and time. Topics include Finances, Parenting, Life Skills, Addiction, Nutrition, and Christianity.
Meal, childcare, and transportation provided.

Offers practical classes on topics such as finances, parenting, Christianity, nutrition, and marriage. These classes will provide incentives for people when homework is completed and life goals are achieved. Each quarter's class is at a different partnering church. Life INC classes are held in the evening and provide a free meal as well as a free children's ministry/care.

Children's Home Society is intentional and proactive in its efforts to stop the cycle of child abuse and domestic violence through education, consultation, advocacy and awareness. Statewide training and prevention events are offered throughout the state to professionals, as well as the general public.
Topics include recognizing and responding to child abuse and domestic violence, how to handle child abuse disclosures, trauma and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) education, healthy relationships and dating violence for teens, Enough Abuse training, and free community trainings.
Trainings can be customized to the needs of the individual or organization.

Education for youth ages 10-18 and their respective families. Provides evidence-based curricula on personal responsibility, healthy relationships, healthy lifestyles, and reproductive health. Educates young people on both abstinence and contraception; and how each can prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
