Recreation Opportunities - provides a wide range of youth and adult public recreational activities. City recreation exists to provide opportunities for leisure time activities at an affordable cost, usually subsidized by public funds, which are not feasible or easily provided by the private sector.
Forestry - purpose is to preserve and perpetuate one of the community's most valuable natural resource and asset - its municipal forest of trees on public property, including boulevards, parks and other city properties. The City of Brookings is responsible for the planting, care and maintenance and removal / replacement of trees on public property, including city boulevards, parks and schools.
Parks Department - builds and maintains the parks in the Brookings Park system, comprising over 640 acres. The department also cooperates closely with the Brookings School District in building and maintaining joint school / park facilities. A full-time staff, assisted by seasonal employees, provides all maintenance and plays a significant role in developing and constructing new parks.

Shelter Reservations: Parks and Recreation will make picnic shelter reservations for your group and post a reservation. Sign in an enclosed sign case at the shelter.
Wedding Reservation: The wedding application form and complete wedding policy, which lists wedding reservation times, can be viewed, or printed on the website or call for information. Weddings can be scheduled at the following locations: McKennan Park Sunken Garden, Sherman Park Garden, Terrace Park Japanese Garden and Tuthill Garden. Wedding events can be scheduled for two different, four-hour time blocks year-round.
