Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation operates the Midco® Aquatic Center and eight other facilities, including three family aquatic centers, two neighborhood aquatic facilities, three spray parks, and two wading pools. Open swim at aquatic facilities is 1:00pm - 5:00pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm daily. Children 6 years old and younger must be supervised by someone at least 16. The ratio of children 6 and younger must not exceed five per adult. Spray parks are open 11:00am - 8:00pm. Swim passes are available to buy or renew. The SD State Fairgrounds encompasses 190 acres and 90 plus buildings and is available for rent for a variety of special events throughout the year. The fairgrounds is home to the South Dakota State Fair which takes place annually always ending on Labor Day. The fair is a showcase for agriculture and 4-H featuring educational exhibits, livestock shows, live entertainment, carnival, food and fun. The fairgrounds also plays host to several annual events including the Wheel Jam, the SD BBQ Championships, livestock events, and horse events.

Through exposure to nature, alternative healing and open communication the program utilizes peer-to-peer support to encourage physical and mental healing. Program includes blacksmithing, leatherwork, equine therapy, massages, hiking, cooking, and yoga therapy.

Life Jacket Loaner Program rents life jackets for free that can be loaned out for up to two weeks at a time. The program is designed to educate the public about life jacket wear and safety and provides a way to get life jackets to those who need them. Life jackets are required by state law for every person aboard a watercraft.
