Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation operates the Midco® Aquatic Center and eight other facilities, including three family aquatic centers, two neighborhood aquatic facilities, two spray parks, and one wading pool. Open swim at aquatic facilities is 1-5 p.m. and 6:30-8 p.m. daily. Children 6 years old and younger must be supervised by someone at least 16. The ratio of children 6 and younger must not exceed five per adult. Spray parks are open 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Swim passes are available to buy or renew. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation maintains and operates more than 3,400 acres of parkland, made up of: Aquatic facilities: The Midco Aquatic Center, five outdoor facilities, one wading pool and two spray parks. These facilities offer swimming lessons, water fitness, and other fun recreational pool events. In 2025, Parks and Recreation will add a new facility with a 25-yard saline-based pool and warm water pool and other recreation space at Tea-Ellis. More than 80 parks and more than 36 miles of connected, paved trail for running, walking, biking through Sioux Falls. There are also numerous hiking and walking trails located in parks. Falls Park: The City's namesake is an international location. Every winter it's lit up with thousands of lights for Winter Wonderland. In 2025, the Park will add Jacobson Plaza and Lloyd Landing in the south end of the park. Various Parks amenities including archery, baseball fields, outdoor basketball courts, disc golf courses, football fields, golf courses, ice ricks, hockey rinks, lacrosse fields, tennis and pickle ball courts, mini-pitches, shelters, pickle ball courts, rugby pitch, soccer fields, softball fields, tennis courts, skate parks, indoor and outdoor volleyball courts, a winter recreation area, and off-leash dog parks, reservable band shells, and reservable picnic shelters, the Battleship Memorial.​ The forestry team nurtures more than 54,000 trees in the City's urban forest. Recreation Division oversees athletic facilities and special events and provides more than 900 program experiences every year like music, theater, tours, sport leagues, playground programming, outdoor programming, programs for toddlers to seniors. Oversight of third-party attractions on park land including: Great Bear Recreation Park, Levitt at the Falls, Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium, Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum, Prairie Green, Kuehn, and Elmwood golf courses, Falls Park Visitors Center and Overlook Café.

Crazy Horse Memorial, home of the world's largest mountain sculpture in progress, is in the Black Hills of South Dakota on U.S. Highway 16/385 just 17 miles southwest of Mount Rushmore. The Memorial started June 3, 1948 to honor the heritage, traditions and living cultures of American Indian people of North America. Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is the governing body that oversees this non profit humanitarian project.

The Monument is the entertainment mecca for the Black Hills Region, serving South Dakota, Southwest North Dakota, Northwest Nebraska, and Eastern Wyoming. Home to many large annual events, including the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo & Rodeo Rapid City, Lakota Nation Invitational, South Dakota High School Activities Association Tournaments, Black Hills Powwow and the Rapid City Rush ECHL hockey team. The campus includes multiple performance spaces; Summit Arena, Barnett Fieldhouse, Ice Arena, the Fine Arts Theatre. In addition you will find two large convention/exhibit halls, and numerous other meeting rooms all under one roof!

City Administrator - is the funnel for information between the City Council, City Staff, and State and Federal agencies. The City Administrator assists in the preparation of the annual City budget, recommends policy directions to the City Council, oversees long range planning, directing the activities of city departments and carries out all other duties as prescribed. Finance Office is responsible for managing the fiscal affairs of the City. This includes monitoring accounting services, cash and asset management, payroll, financial reporting and utility billing. City utilities include water, sewer and garbage collection services. Public Works department oversees the maintenance of the streets, alleys, storm sewer, water and sewer systems, rubble site and airport. Planning & Zoning Committee is responsible for preparing and maintaining the City's Comprehensive Plan, administering and enforcing zoning and subdivision regulations, enforcing building codes, and carrying out ordinances for permits and inspection. Building Committee which is comprised of three council members is designated as the building inspector for the City. Together, they review permits and make recommendation to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Parks and Recreation include a swimming pool that is open during the summer months. Area parks are maintained by local organizations.
