The SD State Fairgrounds encompasses 190 acres and 90 plus buildings and is available for rent for a variety of special events throughout the year. The fairgrounds is home to the South Dakota State Fair which takes place annually always ending on Labor Day. The fair is a showcase for agriculture and 4-H featuring educational exhibits, livestock shows, live entertainment, carnival, food and fun. The fairgrounds also plays host to several annual events including the Wheel Jam, the SD BBQ Championships, livestock events, and horse events.

City Administrator - is the funnel for information between the City Council, City Staff, and State and Federal agencies. The City Administrator assists in the preparation of the annual City budget, recommends policy directions to the City Council, oversees long range planning, directing the activities of city departments and carries out all other duties as prescribed. Finance Office is responsible for managing the fiscal affairs of the City. This includes monitoring accounting services, cash and asset management, payroll, financial reporting and utility billing.
