Parks Division: Maintains city park system throughout the community including irrigation systems Manages Mountain View Cemetery including information and maintenance Maintains city greenhouse which provides flora planted throughout the park system Maintains fleet of department vehicles and equipment Recreation Division: Provides Adult and Youth recreation programs and activities throughout the year Provides management and oversight of Meadowbrook and Executive golf courses Provides management and programming at Roosevelt Park Ice Arena Maintains 4 outdoor pools and the Indoor Swim Center Provides management and aquatic programming to citizens of all ages Provides a variety of Red Cross classes including CPR, First Aid and Babysitting Classes

The Parks & Recreation department oversees a variety of services in Yankton, including: tree planting information; Auld-Brokaw Trail System; trail map; Parks Map; park and facility rental; and Fox Run golf course.

Fitness Center Equipment includes: treadmills, elliptical trainers, Octane 5000s (seated elliptical), fitness Bike, Nu-Steps, ergometer, weight machines, free weights/benches, AB/back weight machines, leg raise machine, locker-room, and shower facilities. Fitness Programs include: Body Sculpting Class, Silver Sneakers Class, weekly pickleball club, yoga, table tennis group, line dancing lessons, hiking club, and golf club.

Includes: Active Cruisers Motorcycle Club, Arts and Crafts, Billiards, Bingo, Book Club, Card and Game Clubs, Community Action Team (CAT), Crafters, Creative Writing Group, Bean Bag Club, Sing-Along Group, Tuesday Night Dances, Early Birders Bird Club, Gold'n Silver Drama Club. Golf Club, Hiking Club, Kazukes, Knitting, Line Dancing, Lifelong Learning Education Opportunities, Color Me Happy Club, Computer Classes, Photography Club, Pickleball, Quilting Club, Scrabble Club, Shuffleboard, Table Tennis, Trips and Travel, Walking Club, Woodcarving Club, Genealogy Club, and Special Events. *Some programs require user fees some are free. Members receive a monthly Lifetimes Newspaper that provides all information regarding classes and events.

Manages the City of Mitchell Urban Forest, and provides and maintains sports fields and facilities, and also provides recreational programming for all ages and abilities. The Parks and Recreation department manages the Mitchell Recreation Center and Indoor Aquatic Center, that provides fitness and recreational opportunities to the public as well as the outdoor aquatic center. The Parks and Recreation department also manages Lakeview Municipal Golf Course, an 18-hole municipal facility.
