These include Arboretum, Brandt's Pond Park, Devine Park, Farm Island Recreation Area, Griffin Park, Harrison Park, Hilger's Gulch Soccer Fields, La Framboise Island Nature area, LaBarge Park, Mickelson Pond, Oahe Softball Complex, Pierre Community Dog Park, Pierre Community Garden, Pierre Community Garden, PILC Soccer Complex, Hollister Field, Steamboat Park, and the Pierre Area Youth Skating Association. Amenities vary by each park and include playgrounds, picnic shelters, basketball court, sand volleyball, baseball field, softball field, track field, skate park, tennis court, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, disc golf course, and open skating.

Additional programs offered include a Street Outreach Team that connects homeless or at-risk youth to basic necessities and Resource Navigators to connect youth and families with vital services ---mentorship, obtaining personal identification documents, pursuing employment opportunities, and/or finding emergency shelter/stable housing.

The City of Valley Springs consists of two parks. Legion Park is a sports complex while Cassady Park is the city park. The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department provides recreational/leisure services to the Aberdeen Community and surrounding region. This includes 12 city parks (including 3 dog parks), over 20 miles of trails, 2 softball complexes, Fossum Baseball Field Complex, Kuhnert Arboretum, 2 outdoor ice rinks and 1 indoor ice arena. Wylie Park and Storybook Land is one of the primer parks in the region. It includes 2 campgrounds, Miniature golf, go-karts, picnic facilities and bike and skate rentals. At Storybook Land families enjoy a world of imagination inspired by nursery rhymes and featuring the Land of Oz. Also enjoy a ride on the Train, Carousel, Balloon Ride and Roller Coaster. The Recreation Division provides recreational activities year round for all ages including youth ball leagues, youth & adult tennis lessons and leagues, skating lessons, open gyms, recreational skating, cross country ski lessons, and adult basketball and volleyball leagues. Many special events are offered including Family Fun Weekend, Tennis Tournaments, Storybook Land Festival, Winterfest and Holiday Celebration just to name a few. The YAPAtorium Teen Center provides many activities for teens. Other facilities include: Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center (ARCC) where programming in the visual arts, dance, music, and theatre occur for all ages. Other areas at the ARCC include the Civic Arena, Civic Theatre, and the ARCC Gallery. The Aberdeen Aquatic Center provides entertainment for the whole family with the lap pool, diving boards, leisure pool with multilevel play structure, 3 waterslides, and the Lazy River. Other activities include swimming lessons, water walking and adult water exercise. The Strode Center and Aberdeen Dome are facilities available for public use and provides a weight room. These facilities can be used for a daily fee, a 10 use punch card, or with a monthly membership. Lee Park Golf Course is an 18 hole public course which provides lessons and leagues. Melgaard Park Disc Golf Course is a 9 hole public course. Aberdeen Senior Center provides many programs and activities for people over 50 years of age

Community Friendship Gardens Garden plots are available for a $34.00 fee, please call for an application and information. Garden Guidelines and Rules: All plots and surrounding areas must be kept free of weeds, trash, and litter. Plots need to be cleaned up by October 15 of each year so that tilling can be done for the following year. Don't forget to harvest all of your crops. Any fencing must be removed at the end of the season before the City does their tilling. Forestry Tree branches are to be trimmed and cut to a minimum height of thirteen and one-half (13½) feet above the street or alley level to allow ample space for the movement of city maintenance and garbage disposal equipment. All existing hedges and shrubs on the boulevard or parking strips shall be trimmed to a height of thirty inches as measured from the gutter level of the street. Trees shall be planted at a distance (30 feet) apart as determined by the Parks and Recreation Board considering the ultimate size of the variety of tree involved. Please call for a free planting permit and staking the location for boulevard trees. A free tree removal permit is issued by this office if you wish to remove trees or stumps that are located on the boulevard or in an alley area.

The Boys & Girls Club of Moody County offers a comprehensive Summer Recreation Program for youth ages 5 through 6th grade. One exception is T-Ball, which is available for youth ages 4 through 6. Summer Recreation includes organized recreational leagues and activities led by contracted coaches and instructors, including soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, T-Ball, golf, track and field, art, science, and theatre. Families should note that Summer Recreation registration includes Club access only during the dates and times of the specific Summer Recreation activity or camp. Youth registered for Summer Recreation only are not automatically eligible for full-day Club programming, Monday through Friday care, field trips, pool outings, or additional fee-based activities. A Boys & Girls Club membership is required for youth to attend the Club throughout the summer, Monday through Friday, and to participate in additional field trips, pool outings, and fee-based activities. Club members have access to onsite programs designed to keep youth engaged, learning, and thriving all summer long. Programming includes academic enrichment, STEM activities, arts and crafts, healthy lifestyle activities, character and leadership development, and social-emotional learning opportunities. All participants receive free daily meals at the Club, including breakfast, a warm lunch, and two snacks, at no cost to families. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

The City of Lennox and Parks & Recreation Advisory Board offers a wide variety of recreational programs for youth and adults throughout the summer months. Youth Programs consists of baseball, softball, t-ball (& Tiny Tees), soccer, flag football, pickleball, baton twirling, and an art workshop. Adult Programs consists of pickleball and sand volleyball leagues.

Amenities include fitness area, sport courts (basketball, volleyball, pickleball, racquetball), aerobics, indoor play area, indoor pool with water slide, sauna, and hot tub. The summer swim pass is eligible to be used for swimming at this facility.

Westerman Park features a playground, picnic shelters, baseball and softball diamonds, tennis court, horseshoe pits, basketball court, skate park, band shelter, campground, and a flower garden for participants of the Community Garden. West Evergreen Park offers playground equipment, picnic shelter, and two sand volleyball courts.
