Sistema-based program serves children ages 7 - 18 through immersive music education and performance.

Improves community life and the lives of individuals by providing positive experiences and learning opportunities. Community Education offers a variety of classes including on-line classes, music, language, computer, physical and emotional health and fitness, home property, hobby, travel, and personal enrichment for adults and youth. Gold Card events are offered during the school year for ages 60+ in this district. Summer camp information is listed in the Community Education Spring Catalog and on Facebook. Driver education classes are offered at each high school for high school age students in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The SDSO works to accomplish its mission: To celebrate the tradition of live orchestral music and enrich the lives of people throughout our region through concert, touring, education, and community engagement programs. The SDSO is grounded in five core values: Community Engagement, Creating Partnerships, Lifelong Impact, Educational Opportunities, and Live Symphonic Music. The orchestra's season includes four concert series - Super, Imperial, Classical, and Bravo - for a total of 22 concerts. In addition to its main stage series, the SDSO's touring program brings its 9 core musicians, chamber orchestra, and full orchestra to communities in South Dakota and the symphony's extensive education program reaches over 15,000 preschool through high school children each season.
