Mental Health services include individual, couples and family counseling, 24-hour QMHP services, psychiatric evaluations and medication management, school consultations, and employee assistance programs (EAP). Alcohol and Drug Program treatment approach is based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and reality therapy. Services offered include individual counseling, chemical assessments, DUI education program, outpatient treatment, prevention education program, and a relapse prevention group. Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. Counseling services include helping individuals and families learn to recognize problems, communicate needs, and change behaviors. The PATH (Providing Access to Healing) Program provides school-based mental health counseling services in a partnership between LSS, local school districts, and the Sioux Empire United Way. PATH provides confidential, individual counseling sessions at the school for kindergarten through 12th grade students. Counseling sessions are held in a private room on-site at the school during regular school hours. Every effort is made to have as minimal impact as possible on the students daily routine. Counselors use accepted therapy practices that are appropriate for the student's age and challenges. A counseling session could include talking, art, games, movement, toys, or music as therapy tools. More than 40 schools in Sioux Falls, Harrisburg, Canton, Brandon Valley, Garretson, Dell Rapids, Baltic, Tea Area, Sioux Falls Catholic, West Central, and Tri-Valley are involved. Individual school participation varies.
