A psychiatric hospital offering a wide range of services for geriatric, adult, adolescent, and child patients. Hospitalization Process: If hospitalization is required, patients are provided a full physical examination and medical evaluation at the Rapid City Monument Hospital Emergency Department prior to hospitalization. A 24-hour residential and psychiatric treatment center serving emotionally disturbed and learning disabled children between the ages of 4-14. This program also provides special education services and intensive therapy for children and families who are experiencing difficulty at home, in school, or in the community. Services include day school and residential programs, evaluation services, family supportive services, consultation and training services. Madsen House is designed to provide comprehensive psychiatric diagnosis and assessments, as well as short-term treatment for children ages 4-14 with emotional and behavioral problems. Madsen House Intensive Unit is an eight-bed unit for children ages 4-14 who have severe or chronic emotional and behavioral disorders. Treatment includes psychiatric care, adaptive management, individual, group and family therapy and academic programming. Childcare teams consist of three counselors and one team coordinator, creating a ratio of one staff for every two children.

Services are available for boys and girls, ages 4-14 years old, who exhibit emotional disorders and/or behavioral problems. The average length of diagnostic assessment period is thirty days. The average length of stay for residential treatment is twelve to fourteen months. The Special Education School Program specializes in the education and treatment of children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Initial assessment includes psychiatric evaluation, physical exam, nursing assessment, educational testing, family/social assessment, trauma assessment, and speech/language screening.

CARE Club - Program for individuals with a mental health disability (i.e. schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and borderline personality) who live in the community. CARE club provides support, assistance, interaction with others and the opportunity to improve consumers existing skills and develop new coping skills. Children's Services - Provides child centered therapeutic services in the home or office. This program provides mental health services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). The parents, families, and surrogate families of children with SED participate in all aspects of evaluation, planning and delivery of services. Works closely with child-serving agencies and programs.

Offers telehealth services. Family Pathways (Family Outreach Services) counselors providing intensive counseling and support services for children in community locations such as home or school. Psychiatric Services include assessments and medication management. CARE - Continuous Assistance, Rehabilitation, and Education services for adults with severe mental illness.

Provides for initial assessment and stabilization of adult psychiatric patients. During the 12-15 day average length of stay, the program initiates and develops treatment and discharge plans. The program promotes and facilitates the patients independent functioning in daily activities. Emphasis is on providing care, treatment and rehabilitation services that will enable the patients to return to and function in the community at the earliest possible time. The Acute Program is Medicare approved by the Health Care Financing Administration. The Intensive Treatment Unit is available for adults and adolescents who require short term intensive monitoring.
