Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation operates the Midco® Aquatic Center and eight other facilities, including three family aquatic centers, two neighborhood aquatic facilities, three spray parks, and two wading pools. Open swim at aquatic facilities is 1:00pm - 5:00pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm daily. Children 6 years old and younger must be supervised by someone at least 16. The ratio of children 6 and younger must not exceed five per adult. Spray parks are open 11:00am - 8:00pm. Swim passes are available to buy or renew. Courses are divided into six levels, starting with Level 1 for children aged 5 and older who are comfortable standing in three feet of water without support. Please note that successful demonstration of skills from the preceding level is a prerequisite for all levels except Level 1.

Project NICE/KEEP is a neighborhood cleanup project. Place tree branches, yard waste, appliances, and tires in separate piles for recycling. Separate glass, sharp objects, and other breakables and put them in a pile by the curb - apart from other items. Do not set out hazardous household waste, electronics or garbage and do not place loose piles of rubble, concrete, or gravel on the curb or street. If weather does not permit cleanup at that time, an alternate week will be chosen. Details concerning each year's targeted area are mailed to homeowners in the selected neighborhoods. ​The Project NICE/KEEP Zone interactive map is allows individuals to check if they are in the zone. NICE (Neighborhood Improvement Complaint Easement) identifies specific neighborhoods at risk of nuisance concerns and assist the neighborhoods to address those concerns. ​KEEP (Keep Environmental Enhancement Permanent) works in conjunction with the NICE program.

The City Hall serves the citizens of Belle Fourche by holding meetings that determine the future of the City. The Mayor and City Council hold City Council meetings to review and pass ordinances, approve hirings and resignations, approve payments, discuss special events and partnerships, and provide information to the public. These meetings are open to the public and always include a time for community input in which speakers are allowed a maximum of 3 minutes to discuss public business. The City Hall also holds meetings for the Airport Board, Legal-Finance Committee, Library Board, Museum Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Police Committee, Public Works Committee, Rec Center Committee, and Technology Board. The times of these meetings can be found on the city website. They are open to the public, and they include time for community input. The City Administrator oversees the daily operations for all City departments, enforces City laws and ordinances, manages the long-range planning of the City, coordinates and communicates with other governmental agencies, serves as a liaison between City departments and the City Council, and engages with the residents of the City.
