Landfill | City of Sioux Falls Public Works Department

The 789 acre sanitary landfill and rubble site is located 5 miles west of Sioux Falls on 41st Street and 464th Avenue. Other services available at the landfill include: - Yard waste composting center Free compost - just bring a container and a shovel Major appliance recycling area Tree wood The Sioux Falls Landfill or a citizen's private garbage hauler can answer questions concerning either the yard waste or recycling programs. Free Landfill Pass - Sioux Falls residents receive a free paperless pass for one free trip to the City of Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill. Residents may present a driver's license or state ID card for scanning at the landfill entrance. Pass is limited to one annual free trip to the landfill per household address. Passes are based on zip code which opens program to those living in multi-family units, such as apartment buildings. The pass will allow the addressee to dispose of one load (less than 3 cubic yards or gross vehicle weight less than 10,000 pounds) at the landfill. Residents may not pay an individual to haul your load, as the load will then be considered a contractor or commercial load. All loads must be tarped or tied down to be admitted free. Small branch size debris can be disposed of at the City's 2 Leaf, Grass and Small Branch Drop Off locations which are open Saturday, April 13 - Sunday, May 26, 2024.

Aquatics | City of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation operates the Midco® Aquatic Center and eight other facilities, including three family aquatic centers, two neighborhood aquatic facilities, three spray parks, and two wading pools. Open swim at aquatic facilities is 1:00pm - 5:00pm and 6:30pm - 8:00pm daily. Children 6 years old and younger must be supervised by someone at least 16. The ratio of children 6 and younger must not exceed five per adult. Spray parks are open 11:00am - 8:00pm. Swim passes are available to buy or renew. Swim passes may be used at any of the following aquatic facilities when open: Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center, daily admission or swim pass Frank Olson Pool, daily admission or swim pass Hayward Park Splash Pad, free Kuehn Park Pool, daily admission or swim pass Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center, daily admission or swim pass Midco® Aquatic Center, daily admission or swim pass McKennan Park Wading Pool, free Pioneer Spray Park, free T. Swimming lessons are available indoor year-round at the Midco Aquatic Center. Outdoor lessons are available during the summer at various outdoor pool locations. Registration is online. Courses are divided into six levels, starting with Level 1 for children aged 5 and older who are comfortable standing in three feet of water without support. Please note that successful demonstration of skills from the preceding level is a prerequisite for all levels except Level 1.

Housing Programs | City of Sioux Falls Planning and Development Services

Provides the following services: ​ ​Rental Rehabilitation Program - Up to $25,000 per rental unit; $100,000 maximum per project, depending on equity. Funds may be used to replace roofs, siding, insulation, exterior painting or installing energy efficient windows and doors. Funding may also be used for interior updates. ​Single Family Housing Rehabilitation Program - provides financial and technical assistance for housing rehabilitation needs including but not limited to roofs, doors, stairs, painting, insulation, handicap accessibility, windows, electrical, plumbing and furnace replacements. Maintenance repairs are not included in this program. Loan payments are only required when the home is sold or is no longer the primary residence. ​Emergency Mobile Home Repair Program - provides up to $5,000 to help pay for emergency repairs.
