Solid Waste Department | City of Huron

Responsible for collection and disposal of garbage and yard waste. The Huron Municipal Transfer Station road is located ¼ mile east of the James River Bridge on 3rd Street. Turn south on the gravel ¼ mile and east ½ mile. Loads which contain loose material must be tarped and tied. All loads brought to the transfer station are subject to inspections to screen out prohibited materials Rubble Site (1901 9th Street S.E.) services: Residences may access the site one a month for free (with a water utility bill and ID). Items not included are; tires, Freon compressors, entire buildings, household garbage, microwaves, televisions, computer monitors, electronics, vacuum cleaners, and any other items as required by state law. Compost is available for purchase Residential garbage collection - Locate your residence on the color-coded collection map to determine the day of your garbage pickup using the color key for the map. Garbage must be bagged and placed inside the brown container so that the lid is closed. Overfilled containers WILL NOT be picked up, please call if you are in need of additional containers. Holiday collection changes please call. Recycling Program - To sign-up for a recycling container (blue with a yellow lid) please call. City Administrator - is the funnel for information between the City Council, City Staff, and State and Federal agencies. The City Administrator assists in the preparation of the annual City budget, recommends policy directions to the City Council, oversees long range planning, directing the activities of city departments and carries out all other duties as prescribed. Finance Office is responsible for managing the fiscal affairs of the City. This includes monitoring accounting services, cash and asset management, payroll, financial reporting and utility billing. Public Works department oversees the maintenance of the streets, alleys, storm sewer, water and sewer systems, rubble site and airport. Planning & Zoning Committee is responsible for preparing and maintaining the City's Comprehensive Plan, administering and enforcing zoning and subdivision regulations, enforcing building codes, and carrying out ordinances for permits and inspection. Building Committee which is comprised of three council members is designated as the building inspector for the City. Together, they review permits and make recommendation to the Planning and Zoning Commission. Parks and Recreation include a swimming pool that is open during the summer months. Property Tax Refund | City of Sioux Falls Finance Department

Refunds the municipal portion of property taxes up to $500.00 on owner-occupied homes for homeowners who meet eligibility standards and have applied through either the Minnehaha or Lincoln County Treasurer's Office for the South Dakota's Assessment Freeze for Elderly and Disabled program by April 1. Approved homeowners will receive the refund the next calendar year.
