The Weed Department is responsible for weed control on all county properties located outside the corporate limits of any municipalities. The Weed Department maintains the appropriate weed control equipment and chemicals. The Supervisor also maintains records of weed and pest infestations, as well as control measures taken. The Weed Supervisor obtains bids for appropriate chemicals and equipment for weed control. The Weed Department controls weeds on township and railroad property when such entities request it. The Weed Department also bills out all work done for other entities to the appropriate entity on a timely basis. The Supervisor is responsible to take the appropriate measures to control nuisance weeds on private property in accordance with state statute. He is also responsible for the record keeping and appropriate billing.

The City of Sioux Falls has two branch drop-off sites to assist with storm clean up. ​Both sites will be open Tuesday, July 29, 2025 - Sunday, August 17, 2025. - West Side of Sioux Falls: 200 N. Lyon Boulevard (South of the W.H. Lyon Fairground). Access is available: From W. 12th Street to N. Lyon Boulevard From W. Madison Street to N. Lyon Boulevard - East Side of Sioux Falls: - 1015 E. Chambers Street: (West of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility). Access is available:From N. Cliff Avenue to Chambers Street. The driveway just west of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be the only access point. The cost is free for cars, pickups, full-size SUVs, vans, or two-wheel trailers. Lawn service companies and commercial businesses will not be accepted at the temporary drop-off sites
