Coordinates planning, preparedness, mitigation, and training activities to ensure the City and community are prepared to respond to natural and man-made disasters. The City of Sioux Falls does not have any community/public storm shelters. Those who do not have basements are advised to plan ahead to find appropriate safe locations. Once a warning has been issued, it is better to shelter in place. Take shelter at the lowest level possible, in the smallest, innermost room. Questions pertaining to floodplains can be directed to the Floodplain Administrator.
