The Planning & Zoning Office issues building permits and 911 Addresses, as well as assists property owners with plats, conditional use permits, and variances. The Zoning Ordinance explains the different zoning districts, as well as the permitted principal uses and structures, permitted accessory uses and structures, conditional uses, and prohibited uses and structures for each district. - Assists with any floodplain needs. The Edmunds County Flood Plain Authority is the county/city limit line. The office staff can assist with an aerial view of the property using the Geographic Information System (GIS), or the property owner can access the system on website. This allows allows the user to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts. A property owner can build in a flood plain, but will need to complete a Floodplain Development Permit Application, to include a flood proof plan. The property can also be built up with fill and the soil compacted to rise above the flood plain. Assists with any drainage needs. The Drainage Ordinance is intended to provide the basic guidance needed by the county drainage commission in carrying out drainage responsibilities.

Emergency Management | Faulk County

Provides information and assistance to the Faulk County Commission, to municipalities, and individuals on matters pertaining to response, recovery, mitigation, preparedness and other Emergency Management issues. Assists in the management of emergency situations. Assists with the disaster declaration process and works with State Emergency Management and FEMA during the response and recovery effort. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining the county plan for reacting to emergencies. During an actual emergency, the director coordinates the action and trains other agencies to respond to emergencies. County emergency managers can make contact with volunteer fire departments in their county when necessary. This is not an emergency first response organization. Treasurer Services provided are motor vehicle titling and registration, real estate tax collection, and a driver's license station. - This County site only accepts driver license applications/documents for licensing, then issues a paper permit (cards are printed in Pierre then mailed to the applicant weeks later). This site cannot process new CDL applicants or non-citizens. - Now available in Spanish: driver license application, study manuals and written test. Driving part of the test is still given via English as the spoken language.
