The County Extension Office is the base of the 4-H Youth Program Advisor. It provides youth development education via the South Dakota 4-H program and other youth enrichment learning experiences at the community level as well as information including fact sheets, feature articles, podcasts, webinars and more is accessible to constituents through website www.igrow.org.

The Auditor is the keeper of County records and acts as a bookkeeper of County business. The Auditor is responsible for County Commissioner meetings including scheduling, agenda, business follow-up, preparing the County's budget, audit bills or other claims against the County and prepare the warrants in payment of these bills, figuring the mill levy, and head election officer of the County. Offers rental assistance in the form of the Section 8 Voucher program. This program, funded by HUD is income based. Participants that qualify, find a unit that qualifies for the program. Participants pay 30% of their income towards rent; Housing pays the remainder of the rent.

A public health nutrition program for income-eligible infants and children up to age 5, pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women. WIC provides nutrition education to help make healthy eating choices, breastfeeding education for expectant and new mothers looking to learn more about their infant nutrition options, referrals to connect families with quality medical care and other community services, and food benefits to help families purchase nutritious groceries at participating businesses statewide.

CARE club provides support, assistance, interaction with others and the opportunity to improve consumers existing skills and develop new coping skills. Children's Services - Provides child centered therapeutic services in the home or office. This program provides mental health services to children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). The parents, families, and surrogate families of children with SED participate in all aspects of evaluation, planning and delivery of services. Works closely with child-serving agencies and programs.

Provides a number of personalized care services for elderly and disabled individuals including personal care, homemaking, nursing care, and respite care.

Represents the interests of the state in prosecution of adult and juvenile crime and providing legal advice and representation to the county officials, department heads, and staff. The State's Attorney Office cannot represent private parties or give them legal advice.

Provides assisted living care including personal care assistance, health maintenance, medication management, dietary services, housekeeping and laundry, and activities and socialization.

Members of the Pierre Senior Center enjoy friendship through weekly potlucks which include entertainment from musicians and speakers, Tuesday rolls & coffee, pool, bingo, and cards. The building is used by AARP for income tax preparation for seniors and low-income families/individuals. Flu shot clinics are held here. The facility can be rented for events such as receptions, banquets, meetings, family gatherings, etc. Seats up to 150 with 8 per table. Bus trips are offered two - three times per year. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing. to qualified individuals. The IRS VITA finder lists a site only two weeks before it opens. So, if a site isn't showing on the list, check back regularly for updated information.

Committed to helping people who are experiencing emotional, psychological, personal, or family problems to increase hope and fulfill their treatment goals for a better life.

The County Highway Superintendent is in charge of constructing, maintaining and repairing all of Lawrence County's 400 miles of roads and 41 bridges. Highway Superintendents, in many cases, also maintain the township roads in their county. In each county, the Highway Superintendent is charged with the direction and supervision of work and keeps record of costs. The Superintendent must approve all bills associated with county road maintenance before payment. Payment for work on county road systems is made from the county road and bridge fund.

Outpatient mental health services for older adults experiencing mental health challenges associated with aging. Patients develop coping and communication skills they need to live a happier and healthier life. Services offered include a confidential, comprehensive assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, medication education and management, and after-care planning. Also set aside time individual psychotherapy and check each participant's vitals. Telehealth is available for patients to participant via the internet.

Provides lower debt payments and many creditors reduce interest rates and eliminate late fees. Through the Debt Management Program, make one payment which is then disbursed to all creditors on the program.

First request for food assistance will be handled on a current needs basis following a short interview process with the coordinators of the food bank, the Pastor of Little White Church, or office secretary. An application for assistance will need to be completed providing contact information. A confidential record of usage will be maintained in the church office. Users of the Food Pantry will be provided bags of food for 3 consecutive weeks. This amount of food should help a struggling family or individual to get back on solid ground. Following the first 3 weeks, users of the Food Pantry can access usage of the Food Pantry every other week receiving 2 bags of food per person according to posted limitations. If there is a change in an individual's circumstances additional assistance may be considered at the direction of the coordinators of the food bank, the Pastor of Little White Church, or office secretary.

This county office assists with the following services - collecting fees for property taxes and vehicle registrations (cars, motorcycles, trucks, trailers, commercial vehicles, snowmobiles, and boats), parking permits application and issuing for individuals with a disability, application assistance for tax reduction / rebate programs for individuals who are disabled and / or elderly (65 or older), and property tax payments.
