The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) at NICOA (National Indian Council on Aging) serves elderly, low-income people by building their job skills, work experience, confidence, financial security, and wellbeing. Helps elders find work, develop new skills, new talents, and earn income by participating in a on-the-job training and employment program.

​Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity Restores accept donations of overstocked, discontinued, new and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public to help serve individuals and families with affordable housing solutions. Please note regarding air conditioners - there may be window ac units for purchase, however these are donated units. There is no income based scale/program to receive a discount on these units.

Provides professional counseling services to adults, couples, and children/teens. Areas of expertise include anger management, addiction, anxiety, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, chronic illness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), depression, grief, military/Veteran's Issues, OCD, PTSD, and Schizophrenia.

Provides a full range of primary healthcare services including physical exams, chronic disease management, acute illness management, physicals, well child exams, children/adolescent/men/women healthcare services, immunizations, telemedicine related to medical and mental health needs, certified laboratory services, All Women Count services, assistance with Marketplace insurance enrollment, and allergy injections. Some sites provide Department of Transportation physicals. Nurse triage available for after-hours calls. Situation will be assessed by a registered nurse with further guidance provided. Strives to meet the needs of all patients, including the underinsured and underserved and offers services at a reduced rate to those who qualify.

City Hall houses the following city departments: city council, city administrator, building permits, city finance officer, city utilities (electric, water, sewer, and garbage collection), planning and zoning, parks and recreation, Volga Community Center and Auditorium reservations, community calendar, and text and email alerts for city council meetings and emergencies.

Provides support and technical assistance to high school students with disabilities and their families, local education agencies, and agencies seeking information on transition planning. Activities provided include: training to students, families, schools, and adult service agencies on transition and development of transition plans; identifying and obtaining instructional materials and assistance with implementation of self determination curriculum; Student leadership activities; Youth Leadership Forum; one-day events such as 'Catch the College Wave', and 'Let's Talk Work'; Individual support and/or assistance; and Post-secondary education linkages.

Serving hot nutritious meals daily at both Active Generations Main and East locations. Menus can be found in the monthly newsletter or online. Active Generations Meal Program is sponsored in part by the National Senior Nutrition Project. Funding for Senior Meals is a joint effort between federal and state governments, community support and participant donations. National Senior Nutrition Project provides persons age 60 and over, their spouse, and/or dependent adult living with them a nutritious meal in a social (congregate) and home delivered setting. Menus meet 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI's) for the population served and low in fat and sodium. Carbohydrate-counted menus are available as well as textured modified servings.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown location is also able to provide car seats for all ages when the purchase of a car seat is financial hardship.

Provides assisted living services including consistent events and activities, a country atmosphere, dietary services, personalized care plans, community, and assistance with activities of daily living.

Providing prescription and over the counter medication services, infusion therapy, intravenous medication, and supply a wide range of retail supplies. Most Avera Pharmacy locations have a medication disposal site available.

Assists Guard members with Education counseling and funding; Federal tuition assistance; GI Bill benefits; Education planning; Updating college and degree changes; GoArmyEd case resolutions; Career and goal assistance and Interpreting career assessment results.

The drug court program is an intensely supervised treatment court for offenders who have a substance abuse disorder that relates to their criminal charges. Treatment providers work with probation officers to build individual skills and support so offenders are able to progress from the criminal courts into lives of recovery and stability.

Provides primary health services free of charge for the homeless. This includes those living in shelters, transitional housing, on the streets, or doubled up with friends, neighbors, or relatives. Counseling services available.

Provides interdisciplinary care, medical devices and products, and rehabilitative care through evidence-based treatment. Services include: audiology, blind rehabilitation, Veteran sports programs and clinics, wheelchair games, physical medicine and rehabilitation, occupational therapy, prosthetic and sensory aid services, speech pathology, chiropractic care, orthotic and prosthetic services, physical therapy, kinesiotherapy, and recreation therapy.

As the outreach arm of South Dakota State University, SDSU Extension serves as a lifelong education network that provides farmers, ranchers, agribusiness, communities, families, and youth with research-based information and education that they need to be successful.

Pharmacy services, vaccinations, and medical equipment/supplies are offered. All 3 locations serve as medication disposal sites.

The County Extension Office is the base of the 4-H Youth Program Advisor. The Ryan White Part B CARE Program provides services to HIV positive individuals who reside in the State of South Dakota. Services include the Aids Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), assistance with health care costs, assistance with insurance enrollment and premium payments, and one on one case management/counseling services for individuals who are HIV positive. The HIV Prevention Program is for anyone residing in the State of South Dakota who has concerns about HIV/STD's. Services include information on health care providers and HIV testing services, one-on-one counseling for HIV/STD concerns, free condom distribution, free information regarding HIV and STD's, and information and assistance accessing PrEP.
