The County Extension Office is the base of the 4-H Youth Program Advisor. LifeSight provides four primary programs:

• KidsFIRST: provides free vision screenings for pre-school and elementary school children by means of partnerships with area eye care professionals and local volunteers. To schedule a KidsFIRST free vision screening, contact LifeSight at 605-716-6733. Screenings are available for children 6 months of age - 5th grade.
• Gift of Sight: provides sight-saving surgeries to those in our community without the financial means to afford care, helping these individuals regain their vision, and most importantly, independence, mobility and quality of life. This program is available only by referral from an area eye doctor (optometrist or ophthalmologist).

- VisionCARE: provides no-cost eye exams and glasses, critical to one's overall health and wellbeing, to individuals who meet program criteria and have no other option for care, providing a simple but powerful path to helping people see better to live better. • Scholarship Program: Annually awards the LifeSight Dr. Paul L. Zimmerman Memorial Endowed Scholarship to a fourth year student at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine planning to pursue a career in ophthalmology.

LifeSight does not offer Eye Examinations, but serves as a resource and referral contact for those with vision impairment.

Loving School at Sioux Falls Children's Home and Owen School at Black Hills Children's Home serves students ages 4-14, in grades PreK through 8th grade, including children in the Sioux Falls and Black Hills Residential Treatment Program. Specializes in meeting educational needs relating to childhood trauma, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, reactive attachment disorder, abuse and neglect, anxiety disorder, aggression, and parent-child challenges. Students receive individual and group therapy at a minimum of 2 hours per month and have access to medical care and psychiatric services, as needed. A student does not need an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) to be enrolled in Children's Home Society schools. If a student does have an IEP, the IEP is implemented and managed by Loving School staff or Owen School staff. Each student's treatment team meets quarterly to share progress and monitor treatment goals. Occupational Therapy and Speech/Language services are available as prescribed by an IEP.

Responsible for maintaining and managing the county's road and bridge network, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for residents and visitors. This includes tasks like road construction, pavement rehabilitation, snow and ice removal, bridge maintenance, and traffic control.

Eligible participants may receive a voucher, which is used to purchase garden seeds and/or live plants which helps to ensure that the participating households have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, which helps them to maintain nutritional well-being. If funding allows, the participants can also purchase canning or preserving supplies so that they can save some of the produce for use in future months.

Provides mental health services and counseling for individuals, families, and couples. Issues such as depression, anxiety, panic, life transition and adjustment (such as career, mid-life, relationship changes, aging), coping with chronic illness, grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, job stress, issues relating to confidence, self esteem and empowerment, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioral issues, anger, and parenting. Sessions offered in-person or via telehealth.

Provides training and technical assistance in disaster preparedness, disaster case management & disaster volunteer training, certified mental health first aid training and QPR, and suicide prevention training. Trainings are available to registered volunteer organizations or individuals and are provided in person or via Zoom.

Sells a wide variety of items such as produce, meat, dairy, and frozen items at reasonable prices. Sioux Falls locations offer curbside pickup and delivery during normal business hours. Brookings and Watertown locations offer curbside pickup during normal business hours.

Provides shelter and support services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Services include immediate 24-hour shelter and crisis hotline, crisis intervention, Legal advocacy: assistance in obtaining domestic abuse and stalking protection orders, and courtroom advocacy, medical advocacy, referral services: assistance in accessing community resources, i.e., housing, employment, financial needs, public education and outreach, information packets, and limited financial assistance. All services are free and confidential. The Wholeness Center is a member program of the South Dakota Network Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault.

Early Head Start prenatal and children age birth to five, promotes healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women; helps enhance the development of very young children and promotes healthy family functioning; and provides early childhood education, health, nutrition, and mental health services. All services are provided in the home. Head Start Centers offer a comprehensive, no cost early learning and support program for children 3 - 5. Residents of Corson County are served through the Lemmon Head Start Center.

A Critical Access Hospital equipped with medical/surgical, pediatric, intensive/coronary care, and swing bed/intermediate care. The Wagner Community Clinic is adjacent to the hospital making it convenient to see hospital patients, share laboratory services and other diagnostic equipment.

Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) is a supplemental food program that enables eligible households to obtain a more nutritious diet. Eligibility is determined by income, resources, and household size. Lost, stolen, or damaged EBT (SNAP) cards must call customer service to report the loss of your card. You will need to enter the card number. If you do not have the card, stay on the line for a second prompt and press 2. Reporting an EBT card as lost, stolen, or damaged will result in that card being declined.

Provides long-term nursing facility and memory care services. Offers 24-hour nursing care, home cooked meals, activities, restorative therapy, and rehab services.

Provides direction for the physical development and quality of life within the city. Areas of service include transit, transportation, and long-range plans, downtown development, historic preservation, and neighborhood conservation activities, and coordination of public improvements and private development with the comprehensive plan, zoning, and subdivision ordinances.

Works with government agencies, nonprofits, private companies, and the general public to develop effective plans that minimize damage and disruptions during an emergency. Emergency Management is also responsible for planning and leading the responses to natural and man made disasters and other emergencies as well as working as a liaison between the county and state and federal partners.

Provides the food vouchers, prescription expense assistance (medicine only), vision expense assistance (eyeglasses and contacts), and personal care items (laundry soap, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items). Please note, prescription assistance is for those without insurance and it is for one time only! Personal care assistance is once in a calendar year.

Provides congregate meals, food boxes, healthy living supplies, home delivered meals, and Breakfast in a Bag (offered once a week every other month). 

Temporary residence for homeless individuals and their families. The length of stay is 90-days, in which residents are to apply for housing, find a job, and save up for deposits needed.

60's + Dining is a senior congregate meal program that provides a nutritious noon meal which reduces or prevents malnutrition, a major cause of other health problems. The program also provides socialization for the participants, which helps ease the problem of isolation among older persons. Persons who are unable to leave their homes due to illness or frailty may receive a home-delivered meal, while those who are able to travel meet at a congregate site for their meals. Participants in the program are asked to make a donation for the meal, but no one is refused service if unable to do so. Frozen Meal Program available to any client over 60. Quality, balanced, nutritious meals are flash frozen in specialty containers that can be heated in the microwave.

An outpatient clinic that offers mental health care counseling services, treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and suicide prevention services to veterans through private counseling, group therapy, medications, care coordinators, case managers, gun safety locks, and outreach and community education.
