South Dakotans age 60 and older who have an approved application will receive a monthly box of non-perishable food at no cost. Packages include a variety of foods, such as cheese, juice, oats, ready-to-eat cereal, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned meat, poultry, or fish, canned fruits and vegetables, and many times a canned entree such as beef stew or chili. Menus change monthly. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Support groups for people impacted by mental illness diagnoses led by trained facilitators of people with lived experiences. Group members help each other by sharing their lived experiences and learned wisdom. There is also a support group for family members for people with a mental illness.

Strategies to Embrace Living with Lupus Fearlessly (SELF) is a self-care program for people with lupus to manage their symptoms, stress, medications, and work with their health care team.

Works closely with the LGBTQI population. Also offering services via telehealth.

The Parks and Recreation department offers a recreation scholarship program for youth under 17 who live in Yankton to attend one swimming lesson and one recreation program per year dependent on class openings and financial and/or personal hardship. Summit Activities Center features an indoor pool with water slide, 2 gymnasiums, 3 multi-purpose rooms, cardiovascular equipment, multi-station weights, free weights, small indoor track, and locker facilities. Summit Activities Center outdoor facilities include 8 lighted tennis courts, an all-weather track, 2 softball fields, a walking path, and an arboretum with many different variety of trees and shrubs. Huether Family Aquatics Center is located at the intersection of 21st Street and Douglas. Offers an Olympic-sized pool, 2 3-meter high dive spring boards, 2 1-meter spring boards, 2 small water slides, and a Wading pool.

Free event for all ages where families and individuals can learn about health and safety information. The following services are available at the festival: blood pressure checks, adult and children flu shots, and glucose checks. This annual event combines health and safety advocates with attendees of all ages and provides a free lunch, door prizes and lots of fun for kids of all ages!

Individual and family counseling for issues involving depression, anxiety, grief and loss, ADHD, and PTSD. Therapist is also fully trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Substance use evaluation, assessment, and treatment is also provided. Walk in assessments and telehealth services are available during normal business hours at the Aberdeen location. South Dakota Parent Connection is a statewide nonprofit organization that helps families, caregivers, and professionals access information, resources, and support for children and youth with disabilities, special health care needs, and developmental concerns. The organization provides free, confidential assistance to help families better understand educational, health care, and community systems. Staff members work alongside families to answer questions, provide information, and connect them with resources that can help meet their unique needs. Services include assistance with:

• Connecting with local, state, and national resources
• Understanding special education services, IEPs, and Section 504 plans
• Navigating disability-related programs and community resources
• Accessing information about health care and support services
• Preparing for school meetings and improving family-school communication
• Planning for life after high school and transition to adulthood
• Finding educational trainings, workshops, and learning opportunities

Provides assistance to veterans and surviving spouses in understanding and accessing VA programs that may support in-home care, including VA Community Care and Aid & Attendance benefits. Services may include benefit guidance and coordination related to authorized home care services.

Hospice care that provides a combination of medical care and a support network designed to meet the needs of patients and their families. 4 levels of hospice care available including routine home care, general inpatient care, home care support, and respite care (5 days or less) to give temporary relief to primary caregiver.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.
