The needs of the individual/family will be assessed, and certain documentation may be required (ex. driver's license). After business hours, The Salvation Army of Brookings County works with the Brookings County Sheriff or City Police to help individuals and families in the case of an emergency/immediate need.

Overnight Program | Bishop Dudley Hospitality House
The Bishop Dudley Hospitality House provides shelter, laundry facilities, and showers, for homeless individuals and families. Services include 80 Men's beds, 20 Women's beds, 7 Family rooms, Laundry Facilities, and Showers.
Guests need to be able to care for themselves in order to be able to stay at BDHH. Guests can use wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, knee scooters, etc. but must be independently mobile if using these items.
Beds are on a first come / first serve basis, beds cannot be reserved. Families with children under 18 can only stay in the family rooms.
Intake for Family Rooms: Please call ahead to check on availability of family rooms. A background check (available for free through the Clerk of Courts) will be required as part of the application. After receiving a printed background check, ask for the Family Coordinator to set up an intake appointment.
A locker program is available for individuals to rent at $10.00/week or $30.00/month. Guests may be eligible for "chore exchange" to earn a locker. Please speak to staff to learn eligibility requirements.

Out of town travel assistance is not offered to MC residents. Identification and or birth certificate (if needed for the purposes of obtaining employment/housing).

Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a home. Pathways offers four different shelter programs:
- Emergency Shelter for Families:
8 rooms designated for households with children. Families will receive 30 days for free in a 12-month period. After 30 days, rent will be charged for extended stay.
- Tier 2 Services:
2 rooms designated for men and women seeking a more permanent residence and access to more services. To qualify for this program, individuals must be employed or be able to pay rent at the start. Total of 4 beds for women and 4 beds for men.
- Re-Entry Program:
Partnership with South Dakota Department of Corrections; provides 8 beds for men who are needing to re-enter the community. These individuals must follow the same guidelines for admission as other clients.
Young Adult Transition Program:
Provides transitional living and case management for young adults 18 to 24 years old who are experiencing homelessness. 4 beds are available for this purpose and can help people within the age range struggling in the community. Contact Staff for more details.
