The Vermillion Area Chamber & Development Company (VCDC) functions as a Chamber of Commerce, office of Economic Development, and Visitor/Tourism Bureau for Vermillion and the surrounding area. It operates in direct partnership with several other agencies, including the City of Vermillion, University of South Dakota, and the nonprofit Missouri Valley Growth, to better grow the economic prosperity of the area and create a positive environment in which to do business. Services include business counseling, member marketing, referrals, networking opportunities, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and much more. The VCDC publishes a semi-annual newsletter informing community of business trends, area news, and new chamber members. Contributes to the Core Science Systems Mission Area through research and operational activities that enable the understanding of local to global land change. EROS holds one of the world's largest collections of images of the Earth's surface. The Center manages and distributes this data, acquired by civilian satellites and aircraft, to scientists, policymakers, and educators worldwide. This data is used to study a wide range of natural hazards, global environmental changes, economic development, and conservation issues. USGS EROS is open to tours on weekdays. Learn about the Landsat satellite program, view imagery of our planet, and walk the historic halls of the data center. Guided tours available Monday - Friday, 10:00am and 2:00pm. Self-guided tours available weekdays 8:00am - 4:00pm. During inclement weather, please call to make sure the center is open.
