The Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department provides recreational/leisure services to the Aberdeen Community and surrounding region. This includes 12 city parks (including 3 dog parks), over 20 miles of trails, 2 softball complexes, Fossum Baseball Field Complex, Kuhnert Arboretum, 2 outdoor ice rinks and 1 indoor ice arena. Wylie Park and Storybook Land is one of the primer parks in the region. It includes 2 campgrounds, Miniature golf, go-karts, picnic facilities and bike and skate rentals. At Storybook Land families enjoy a world of imagination inspired by nursery rhymes and featuring the Land of Oz. Also enjoy a ride on the Train, Carousel, Balloon Ride and Roller Coaster. The Recreation Division provides recreational activities year round for all ages including youth ball leagues, youth & adult tennis lessons and leagues, skating lessons, open gyms, recreational skating, cross country ski lessons, and adult basketball and volleyball leagues. Many special events are offered including Family Fun Weekend, Tennis Tournaments, Storybook Land Festival, Winterfest and Holiday Celebration just to name a few. The YAPAtorium Teen Center provides many activities for teens. Other facilities include: Aberdeen Recreation and Cultural Center (ARCC) where programming in the visual arts, dance, music, and theatre occur for all ages. Other areas at the ARCC include the Civic Arena, Civic Theatre, and the ARCC Gallery. The Aberdeen Aquatic Center provides entertainment for the whole family with the lap pool, diving boards, leisure pool with multilevel play structure, 3 waterslides, and the Lazy River. Other activities include swimming lessons, water walking and adult water exercise. The Strode Center and Aberdeen Dome are facilities available for public use and provides a weight room. These facilities can be used for a daily fee, a 10 use punch card, or with a monthly membership. Lee Park Golf Course is an 18 hole public course which provides lessons and leagues. Melgaard Park Disc Golf Course is a 9 hole public course. Aberdeen Senior Center provides many programs and activities for people over 50 years of age

Provides curb-side pickup of recycling items. Beresford residents can also drop off items for recycling. Accepted items include dry cardboard, newspapers, magazines, phonebooks, tin and aluminum cans that have been rinsed out, numbers 1 and 2 plastic milk jugs, pop bottles, and similar items that have been rinsed out and had their lids removed. Does not accept pallets, glass, waxed cardboard, and packing material such as Styrofoam and bubble wrap. For curb-side pick up, recycling items must be in clear, plastic bags and sorted according to material.

The Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department serves and protects the community of Sturgis as well as a 580 square-mile area of Meade and Lawrence Counties. The Ambulance Service serves the residents of Sturgis as well as communities in western Meade County and eastern Lawrence County including lower Boulder Canyon.

The City Health Department handles a wide variety of issues. The Environmental Health Division consists of programs that regulate tattoo parlors, lodging, campground, Project NICE, food protection programs, child care registration program, noise permits, and environmental/nuisance complaints. The Public Health Laboratory provides testing services such as environmental microbiology, water testing for private wells/swimming pools, and clinical testing.

The Chamber serves as a welcome, information and resource center for the entire Dell Rapids area. An online directory of organizations and events calendar can be found on website. 

Provides a 9-hole public golf course in Beresford, South Dakota. On-site amenities include a full-service bar, snack bar, driving range, and putting green. Hosts tournaments. Offers golf instruction. Maintains golf leagues including a Senior Men's League, Evening Men's League, Wednesday Morning Ladies' League, and Evening Women's League.

Works to provide timely and accurate financial information to the city management and to the public, and to administer the city's assets, including cash and investments, in a prudent and intelligent manner. Primarily focuses its efforts on public education, fire prevention initiatives, preparedness and overall community risk reduction. Responds to a wide variety of calls for service such as fire suppression resources, advanced life support transport services, a technical rescue team, a hazardous materials team, aircraft rescue and firefighting response and other services. These services are dispatched from 8 strategically located stations throughout the community.

Canton City Hall houses various city departments, including: Finance Department (assists with budget, utility payments, elections, and business and contractor licensing), Mayor and City Commissioners, utilities (water and sewer), Public Works (assists with government buildings, streets, street lights & traffic signals, snow removal, street cleaning, solid waste and public health), Parks and Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Police, Rubble Site (located east of Canton on Hwy 18, see web for more details), and City Shop.
