Advises the City Manager, City Council, and City personnel on all legal matters affecting the city. The city attorney prosecutes and defends lawsuits in which the City of Watertown is a party, and serves as the city's prosecutor for violations of city ordinances. The city attorney is prohibited from providing legal advice to the public or to any party other than the municipal corporation of the City of Watertown.

Responsibilities of City Attorneys generally include providing legal services to the City. City attorneys usually cannot represent private citizens.

Dell Rapids City Departments include city hall, public works, city council, city administrator, finance, city attorney, utility billing officer (water and wastewater), code enforcement, zoning, public works (maintains water, wastewater, streets, parks, and rubble site), and law enforcement - through county sheriff.

Provides legal services to the mayor, city council, and city staff. The City Attorney cannot provide legal advice to members of the general public.

Provides cost effective legal representation for the City of Rapid City. The City Attorney's Office cannot represent private parties or give them legal advice.

Provides water, sewer, and natural gas services to the residents of Garretson, SD. Serves as point of contact for the city officials including Mayor, council members, finance officer, utilities superintendent, building inspector, and city attorney (the city attorney cannot represent private parties or give them legal advice). A variety of tourism and recreation opportunities are available including Split Rock Park, Devil's Gulch, Palisades State Park, Garretson Museum, River Ridge Golf Course, Baseball/Softball Complex, and the Garretson Swimming Pool.

The City Attorney represents the city in contractual matters, is responsible for drafting new ordinances and amendments to current ordinances, and is responsible for prosecuting violations of municipal ordinance. The City Attorney's Office cannot represent private parties or give them legal advice.

Provides the Mayor, City Council, and City officers, employees, and agencies with effective legal representation and opinions on City affairs, and prosecutes violators of the City Code of Ordinances.
