Transportation to the Fort Meade VA Clinic is available on Tuesdays, call the Butte County VSO at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation. Call ahead for a ride on the DAV van. Veterans are encouraged to register their discharge information (DD Form 214, Report of Separation) with the County Registrar of Deeds Office.

Volunteers of America hosts a Veteran Outreach Center Monday through Friday, where Veterans and their families can access immediate resources including: laundry room and necessary supplies. shower facilities and personal care supplies, computer resource center, community day room with coffee and snacks, and access to copier and mail center. For eligible Veterans experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or those experiencing life changes that can threaten their existing housing stability, Volunteers of America services and assistance may also include: referrals/linkage to VA Housing and community Veterans' services, coaching/case Management that is focused on employment, housing retention and budgeting, processing requests for copies of DD-214s, help getting government issued identification, job-related transportation, job skills training, obtaining materials for new jobs, and job retention once a job is found.

The County VSO is an excellent source for information on all matters relating to veterans' benefits. The staff has the training and experience to serve veterans' needs. The County Veterans Service Office offers complete claims service and explanation of VA procedures. Provides follow-up service once a decision has been made. Provides information regarding eligibility at VA medical facilities. Assists eligible South Dakota veterans in applying for the South Dakota State Bonus Program.
