Protective payee services is where the participant is provided financial management education and the CSW controls the participant's income, pays bills, buys groceries, other necessities, and in general manages the participant's finances for a period of time. Distribution day is Saturday, August 10, 2024. To get an application, go to SA office. People on SNAP automatically qualify. People who qualify receive a card that they need to bring that to the distribution date. Students are also given a brand new pair of shoes.

The Contact Center helps residents of Yankton County with the following: A food pantry Utility assistance, including past due and disconnect bills for water, lights, and heating Gasoline Partial rent Representative payee system Emergency medication assistance - Children's backpacks available. Typically available in August. 2024: Collaboration with United Way. August 15, 2024 at Contact Center 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Students must be enrolled in the Yankton School District. Deadline to register for a backpack is August 9, 2024. Contact Center does not help with any kind of deposit (rent, utility, etc).

Students can discuss their needs in confidence with any school staff member OR any school staff member can recognize a student's needs they would like to address. If the school does not currently have the needed items, the school will reach out to the MSD Caring Closet and volunteers will do their best to help fulfill the student's needs. Student's use and/or request of items is completely confidential.

Services at the Love Feast of Mitchell include: Meal Program: Meal handout twice a month. Deliveries available. Backpack Program: Kids get a backpack of school supplies. Application Form is required. Shoe voucher to Head Start through K-8th grade before school starts. Distribution is held at Downtown First United Methodist Church basement.
The Community Connection Center (CCC) is a one-stop-shop that addresses the needs of Vermillion community members by coordinating the efforts of local organizations. The CCC is a networking hub that houses a full range of community services designed to enhance the lives of children, families and communities, including United Way of Vermillion, Evan Project Diaper Bank, Vermillion Food Pantry, Salvation Army Emergency Fund, Welcome Table, Tanager Takeout/Weekend Backpack Program, Back to School Backpack Program, VITA, ROCS Outreach, Cornerstones Learning and Allen's Bed Bank.
