This includes inpatient hospice, hospice cottages, nursing homes, assisted livings, and other long term care facilities. Hospice cottages, a unique way to care for a terminally-ill patient who is unable to remain in their home for care, are available, as well. ​​Ava's House features 16 adult patient rooms and 4 pediatric patient rooms. Services include 24-hour room service menu for patients, aromatherapy, grief/bereavement counseling, music enrichment, pain management, pet therapy, spiritual and social support, and remembrance items and activities for the family. Amenities include: Private 24' X 15' rooms with a guest bed, Each room has a deck or patio and low windows offering views from the pillow, Great room with fireplace and couches where family and friends can gather and relax, Shared kitchen that family members can use; patients can also order meals off menus from Rapid City Hospital, A guest room is available for families who wish to spend an evening at Hospice House, Chapel and library open for reflection, reading, or work, Labyrinth and wooded peaceful areas for walking or sitting outside, Complimentary wireless internet, Round-the-clock care provided by registered nurses and aides, and Spa with side-entry tub or shower area. Hospice House provides three levels of care: - Acute Care: 24/7 skilled nursing care for patients who are rapidly declining or where the medical condition requires skilled care. - Respite Care: A five-day stay is available under Medicare, Medicaid, and some insurance to allow family members a respite for caregiving. - Residential Care: If hospice care at home isn't possible, Hospice House provides residential care. Most insurance covers the hospice care at Hospice House. Patients are responsible for a $300 daily room and board cost.

Nursing visits are made on a regular schedule and an on-call 24-hour basis as needed. In addition to quality care, hospice provides, at no additional cost, medications related to your illness, durable medical equipment, such as walkers and wheelchairs, and bereavement counseling. Patients in a nursing home or assisted living center, may be eligible to take advantage of these hospice services, thus reducing out-of-pocket costs for medication and equipment.
