Program places social work interns into community, healthcare, and educational settings where service members, veterans, and their families work and live. Members assist with resource navigation, peer connection, and community outreach while strengthening coordination across local partners. Members serve part-time while completing degree-required internships or practicums for academic credit. Through hands-on service, students build military cultural competence and practical skills that contribute to stronger, more connected communities of care.

The Patti Robinson Kaufmann First Connection Program is a peer-to-peer program that matches newly diagnosed patients and their families with trained volunteers who have been touched firsthand by a blood cancer and shared similar experiences.
Online Chats: Live, weekly online chats provide a friendly forum to share experiences and chat with others about anything from the initial phase of diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. Each chat is moderated by an oncology social worker and is password-protected. The online chats are not a replacement for psychotherapy or support groups.
