Offers a wide range of confidential services to currently enrolled USD students. These services include, but are not limited to individual and group counseling, couples counseling, crisis intervention, education and prevention services, case management, substance use assessments, and more.
Topics may include, but are not limited to anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, identity concerns, eating disorders, alcohol and drug use, abuse and violence issues, and more.

Prevention Programming | Carroll Institute
Carroll Institute Project Awareness Prevention Program contracts with area school districts to provide evidence-based prevention programming in the classroom K-12th grade by counselors trained in working with adolescents with varying backgrounds in prevention, school counseling, and mental health counseling. Provides assessments and screening to students with referral services to appropriate levels of care.
Diversion Program available for young adults ages 18-20 with no substance use diagnosis outside of tobacco use.

Outpatient Services - Individual therapy (for mental health or substance use), Family therapy, Group therapy, Medication management, Psychological assessments and testing, Commitment evaluations, Nursing home consultations, and 24-hour a day crisis intervention via crisis line. Walk in assessments available during regular business hours at the Yankton and Vermillion locations.

The main focus of Emily's Hope is treatment accessibility, support for families and prevention education.
The Emily's Hope Fund, through the Avera McKennan Foundation, is getting people into treatment. Donations help offset insurance co-pays or support the uninsured. Donations will also support the families of those in treatment on a case-by-case basis who are seeing help at the Avera Addiction Care Center.
Emily's Hope has developed a K-12 prevention education curriculum that aims to educate children on how substances affect the brain and how substance use disorder occurs.
Emily's Hope publishes a weekly podcast on addiction and grief, holds a support group for those who have lost a loved one to overdose/fentanyl poisoning, publishes a blog on grief, and provides the latest news on addiction, overdose and the fentanyl crisis.

Traditional concepts of health among many American Indian families within the Pine Ridge Tribal Lands involve the intersection of physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing, which are all seen as inextricably linked. Therefore, ALO uses a comprehensive approach for behavioral health programming, which is guided by traditional Lakota values (ie. waca'tognaka (generosity), woohitika (courage), wowaci'ta'ka (perseverance), waoholaka (respect), wau'sila (compassion), and woksape (wisdom).

Western Prevention Resource Center | Youth & Family Services
The WPRC seeks to divert or delay those we serve from substance use and other high-risk behaviors to promote
choices/behaviors resulting in lifelong mind and body wellness. The WPRC primarily focuses prevention support services to stakeholders in South Dakota's 22 westernmost counties, but often serves an even broader audience. The WPRC's services include providing education, technical assistance, training and other support to prevention service providers, youth, parents, educators, community groups, social service providers, health/wellness agencies, chemical dependency service providers, law enforcement and other community wellness stakeholders.
WPRC staff can provide community education and information on a broad range of prevention topics. These topics include:
Individual drugs (alcohol, nicotine, vaping, marijuana, methamphetamine, fentanyl, etc.)
Trends in drug use
Over the counter drug misuse
The science of chemical dependence (brain and body)

Watertown Healthy Youth Coalition | Human Service Agency
The coalition carries out evidence-based environmental strategies which address substance use and other unhealthy risk-taking behaviors that impact youth within the Watertown area. It also implements Project SUCCESS, which is school based prevention programming at the middle and high schools. Mental Health services include individual, couples and family counseling, 24-hour QMHP services, psychiatric evaluations and medication management, school consultations, and employee assistance programs (EAP).
Alcohol and Drug Program treatment approach is based on the 12-step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and reality therapy. Services offered include individual counseling, chemical assessments, DUI education program, outpatient treatment, prevention education program, and a relapse prevention group.
Case Management and IMPACT Programs, designed to help clients with severe and persistent mental illness, services include case management and continued care, medication management with psychiatrist, crisis intervention assistance, and psychiatric rehabilitation which seeks to provide program services that assist clients in developing skills and manage resources needed to allow them to be successful in the community. A client centered, client directed form of treatment, the program consists of services designed to restore the disabled person to a level of functioning which permits a useful, meaningful life.
