Stockyard Ag Experience provides a place to communicate the role agriculture plays in our economy and society and showcases the story of agriculture in this region from the farm to the table and its evolving relationship to the world.

South Dakota Art Museum | South Dakota Art Museum

Rotating exhibits feature Harvey Dunn, Native American art, Marghab Linens and Paul Goble, as well as exhibits curated from regional, national and international artists. Family friendly with art activities and engagement spaces for kids throughout the museum. Free Community Art Days and other free events throughout the year. Tours available with advance notice. The museum has more than 7,000 objects in its collection including paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, textiles, and ceramics. The Museum Store features jewelry, beads, pottery, and original works of art by local and regional artists in addition to books on South Dakota history and culture, gifts, educational toys, and giclée prints of Harvey Dunn originals.

Sensory Friendly Play Featuring Santa | Children's Museum of South Dakota

Join the Children's Museum of South Dakota for a low-sensory playtime that offers a calm, less crowded opportunity for visiting the Museum featuring a special appearance from Santa Claus. This event will include the following adaptations: less crowded environment, designated quiet rooms, adaptive equipment, and cafe space available if families bring a packed meal. This event is specially designed for children, adults, and families who will benefit from expanded accessibility and sensory accommodations. Service providers, animals, and therapists are welcome to accompany students/clients.

The Pettigrew Home and Museum is a historic house built in 1889 and in 1911 became the home of Richard Franklin Pettigrew. He was the first Senator for the State of South Dakota. Old Courthouse Museum | Siouxland Heritage Museums

The Old Courthouse Museum was Minnehaha County's first courthouse, built in 1889 with a 165 foot clock tower. The museum features three floors of history related exhibits, along with a variety of educational programming including historic walking tours, kids activities including summer camps, concerts, and much more.

Breakfast with Santa | Children's Museum of South Dakota

Visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and play with the elves! Take a photo with Santa and share Christmas wishes! Holiday magic is in the air! Enjoy a delicious breakfast from Cafe Coteau while Santa stops by for a visit. There will be two sessions held for 2025. Both sessions will be held on Saturday, December 6th. Visual Arts Center | Washington Pavilion of Arts

Santa Visits the Museum | Children's Museum of South Dakota

Santa will be visiting the Children's Museum of South Dakota to visit and take pictures with museum guests. The Museum will be open on Tuesday, December 16th until 7:00pm. Check out Play Central Toys & Books for any last-minute holiday shopping you may have. No museum admission needed but your purchase supports the mission of the organization. Cafe Coteau will also be serving a $5.00 Community Meal that night.

Kirby Science Discovery Center | Washington Pavilion of Arts

Features interactive exhibits and live demonstrations for all ages. Offers Free First Fridays on the first Friday of each month. This includes free admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center and Visual Arts Center and various science activities including Avera Stage Science and fascinating demonstrations. Inside the museum is the Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium that shows a variety of mission-based, educational documentaries. Get your play in before the 2025 Downtown Brookings Festival of Lights Parade! Prior to the parade, museum guests can visit museum exhibits and write a letter to Santa in the Art Studio.
