Oversees the following divisions of the City of Aberdeen: Street Maintenance, Solid Waste, Traffic Control, Utilities, the Water Treatment Plant, and the Water Reclamation Facility. These divisions are responsible for the maintenance and improvement of roads and alleys, snow removal, solid waste collection, contracted recycling, traffic control measures, the maintenance of all water main, sewer main, storm sewer, and drainage ways, treatment and conveyance of drinking water, and the conveyance, treatment, and discharge of waste water.

Responsible for the supervision and oversight of the following services and activities: parks, cemetery, streets, water, sewer, roundup grounds, solid waste disposal, garbage collection, custodial and building maintenance, and mosquito protection. Canton City Hall houses various city departments, including: Finance Department (assists with budget, utility payments, elections, and business and contractor licensing), Mayor and City Commissioners, utilities (water and sewer), Public Works (assists with government buildings, streets, street lights & traffic signals, snow removal, street cleaning, solid waste and public health), Parks and Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Police, Rubble Site (located east of Canton on Hwy 18, see web for more details), and City Shop.

The City of Canistota offers water, wastewater, and garbage service to all residents within the city limits of Canistota. City Hall is the contact for building permits and zoning information. Pet tags are available at the finance office. All pets must be licensed. The fee to license a pet is $10.00 and proof of rabies vaccination must be provided. Pet licenses expire every January. The City Finance Officer is often a notary public.
