A restricted use rubble site that opens in the spring and fall depending on the weather and closes for the winter when the weather is no longer fit.

Grass, leaves, and garden rubbish, trees and lumber, building demolition, non-burnable materials such as cement, plaster, sheetrock, asphalt, and shingles, sofas, mattresses, box springs, windows, upholstered furniture, storm doors, bathroom fixtures, appliances, appliances with Freon, metals such as automotive bodies/parts and sheet metal, lawn mowers, furnaces, ductwork, and tires.
Items not allowed:
Oil-paint, chemical containers, paper, plastic, cardboard, automotive filters, electronics such as TVs, computers and computer equipment, radios, microwaves, and CD/DVD players.
Bags and containers must be emptied, and no bags or containers may be left at the site. The City of Arlington reserves the right to refuse any load that does not comply with regulations.

The 789 acre sanitary landfill and rubble site is located 5 miles west of Sioux Falls on 41st Street and 464th Avenue. Other services available at the landfill include:

The Sioux Falls Landfill or a citizen's private garbage hauler can answer questions concerning either the yard waste or recycling programs.
Free Landfill Pass - Sioux Falls residents receive a free paperless pass for one free trip to the City of Sioux Falls Sanitary Landfill. Residents may present a driver's license or state ID card for scanning at the landfill entrance. Pass is limited to one annual free trip to the landfill per household address. Passes are based on zip code which opens program to those living in multi-family units, such as apartment buildings. The pass will allow the addressee to dispose of one load (less than 3 cubic yards or gross vehicle weight less than 10,000 pounds) at the landfill. Residents may not pay an individual to haul your load, as the load will then be considered a contractor or commercial load. All loads must be tarped or tied down to be admitted free.
Small branch size debris can be disposed of at the City's 2 Leaf, Grass and Small Branch Drop Off locations which are open Saturday, April 13 - Sunday, May 26, 2024.

The Mayor and City Council are responsible for passing new city ordinances.

Responsibilities vary by jurisdiction but generally include budget development and monitoring, accounting services, cash and asset management, payroll, contract administration, grants management and financial reporting. The office also assists with building permit applications.
​The City of Armour also has a rubble site that residents may utilize. This is open from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesdays and 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays in the Spring and Summer. In the fall and winter, use of the rubble site is by appointment only. All items must be sorted. Household garbage and plastic bags are not accepted. The landfill is located on 450 acres and has operated at this location since 1960. On an average day the landfill receives 450-500 tons of non-hazardous solid waste. In addition to household waste, the landfill receives construction and demolition debris, non-hazardous special wastes, and non-infectious medical waste for disposal. A Subtitle D landfill which can accept anything considered non-hazardous or liquid.

Items that are NOT accepted: hazardous waste such as waste oil, solvents, ash, etc., pesticide containers, regulated asbestos-containing materials, lead-acid batteries, municipal solid waste and household garbage, liquid waste such as tar, contaminated water, used motor oil, etc., treated wood, cardboard, plastic, Styrofoam, packaging materials, sealants, dead animals, soil contaminated with fuels or pesticides, and electronic wastes.
The Rubble Site Attendant can exercise discretion to reject any and all materials.
