Vermillion Lions Club collects used eyeglasses and hearing aids as well as provide financial support for both sight and hearing needs (a qualification form needs to be completed). Serves youth by providing scholarships and support local organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts, HOBY, library programs, and assistance to other community projects as the needs arise. Also, supports community by supporting the Fire and Police Departments, the Edith Siegrist Vermillion Public Library, the W. H. Over Museum, South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Lions Park, The Main (Senior) Street Center and by participating in community events such as the Dakota Day parade and Parade of Lights.

Programs/Services: ​Glasses and Hearing aids - funding help with eye glasses and hearing aids for people in the community who need assistance. ​Scholarship - annual award for 1 local (St Mary's Dell Rapids, Dell Rapids Public) high school senior. ​Funding assistance for local community projects - FCCLA National competition, Dell Rapids Boy Scouts, Dell Rapids Food Pantry, Dell Rapids Christmas for Our Kids, Dell Rapids Community Haven, Dell Rapids Special Olympics, Dell Rapids Back Pack Program, Dell Rapids Museum Festival of Trees, etc.

KidSight South Dakota - Providing free vision screening for children 6-months to 18-years old. Mobile screening units are available to daycares, preschools and schools on request. Vision Assistance Program - Individual Lions clubs partner with healthcare professionals to provide vision exams at no or reduced cost and eye glasses at reduced rates to uninsured and income-qualified individuals (200% of federal poverty level). Eyeglasses Collection - Glasses are inspected, cleaned, refurbished, and reused by people in need in developing countries around the world. Donated glasses may be dropped off at Walmart Vision Centers or visit the website for other locations.
