Investigates child abuse and neglect cases by working with the State's Attorney, law enforcement, and community resources to determine extent of alleged child abuse or neglect. Other services include adoptions, licensing of foster homes, assessment services, case management, and intensive family services. Maintains court records of all types including civil, criminal, family, and probate; assists with jury trials; provides procedural information; accepts and records payments for filing fees, fines, court costs, and restitution. The Mobile Food Distribution, a program of Feeding South Dakota, distributes free food to individuals and families throughout the state. Each family receives nutritious foods such as fresh and frozen produce, meat, shelf-stable items, dairy products, boxed meals, and more. The types of food distributed vary depending on what is available at the current time. Distributions operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests can receive food once each calendar month. Guests can establish someone to pick up food for them by completing the English Proxy form or the Spanish Proxy form. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. The Used 2 Be New in Clark (Clark County) has clothing and other household goods for persons who wish to use the store's services. If an income eligible person or family cannot afford to purchase the clothing, the Community Service Worker in that county can provide a voucher that allows the person or family to get the clothing at no charge.

The South Dakota Association of the Blind exists to provide input into the quality of services provided by state, federal, and local governments. It also develops and support legislation to improve the quality of life, provide educational opportunities to their constituency on a variety of topics that include leadership training, self-advocacy skills training, and information of the American with Disabilities Act, and provide peer support.
