Services provided by this office are a last resort. If eligibility criteria are met, assistance may include burial assistance, medical expense assistance, utility assistance, and rent assistance.

A youth organization that provides a safe place for kids to go after school and during the summer on week days. Members participate in a variety of activities such as homework help/tutoring, organized sports programs, Youth for Unity, Teen Center, and guided activities on character and leadership, education and career skills, and healthy living/active lifestyles. Snacks are provided.

DOES NOT provide one-time or immediate rental assistance This office has a list of low income rental units in the area; these units would be available (if they have openings) to individuals and families that aren't currently on Section 8. Stop by during regular business hours to pick one up. If there are no printed lists in the lobby, please call and tell the office so they are able to resupply. Note, the properties on the list are not affiliated with Sioux Falls Housing, and SFH is not responsible for the keeping the information current. Sioux Falls Housing does not help people find housing, they just provide the list. As of September, 2025, Sioux Falls Housing and Redevelopment Commission has closed the mod-rehab waitlist, the housing choice voucher waitlist and the Hopwa waiting list. Medical assistance programs include: ​Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Coverage includes such things as doctor, hospital, prescription drugs, counseling, dental and glasses. Insurance for children up to age 19 at no cost to the family if the income is below certain income levels found on the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If the family income is below 140%, the children may be eligible with or without private health insurance. If there is insurance, CHIP will pay the deductibles, co-insurance, and possibly some medical services not covered by the private insurance. ​Medicaid: Health care coverage for people who qualify. To be eligible for Medicaid, individuals must fall into a coverage group and meet certain financial and non-financial eligibility criteria. Provides help for older adults and people with disabilities.

Supporting caregivers that help their Medicaid-eligible loved ones at home by providing an expert care team, emotional support, and financial assistance.

Providing inpatient-level care for individuals who can safely receive care in the home. This consists of visits with a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Provider and Physician visiting in person or virtually.

Serving hot nutritious meals daily at both Active Generations Main and East locations. Menus can be found in the monthly newsletter or online. Active Generations Meal Program is sponsored in part by the National Senior Nutrition Project. Funding for Senior Meals is a joint effort between federal and state governments, community support and participant donations. National Senior Nutrition Project provides persons age 60 and over, their spouse, and/or dependent adult living with them a nutritious meal in a social (congregate) and home delivered setting. Menus meet 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI's) for the population served and low in fat and sodium. Carbohydrate-counted menus are available as well as textured modified servings.

The Gardasil vaccine can prevent the strains of HPV (human papilloma virus) that causes cervical cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts. The vaccine will be available at those physician offices that are enrolled in the immunization program, Community Health Nursing Offices, Indian Health Service Clinics, Rural Health Clinics, and Community Health Centers. Parents are encouraged to speak with a medical professional regarding other medical questions.

Offering free tax help to qualified people who need assistance in preparing their simple tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing. to qualified individuals. The IRS VITA finder lists a site only two weeks before it opens. So, if a site isn't showing on the list, check back regularly for updated information.

The Tobacco Prevention Resource Center focuses on reducing disease, disability, and death related to tobacco use by preventing the initiation of tobacco use among young people, promoting quitting among youth and adults, eliminating nonsmokers' exposure to environmental tobacco smoke, and identifying and eliminating the disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among different population groups. Facilitation of tobacco prevention services are available through services such as an online website which includes tobacco resource library holdings, technical assistance for program development, tobacco resource library, and assistance to the medical and faith communities in the development of tobacco policies. ​Resources include brochures, posters, videos, display items, reference books, and program ideas. The TPRC also provides technical assistance on prevention activities to schools, professionals, community groups, parents, and youth.

ICAP Emergency Services helps with emergency utilities and rent (Not available to those residing in Sioux Falls) for income qualified households. Must meet all requirements. Also offers food pantry vouchers to those who qualify.

A grocery store that offers natural, local and organic food items as well as wellness and supplement products, and bulk spices and ingredients.

Elected officials who oversee the administration and policy-making of county government. Responsible for managing the county's budget, enacting local laws and ordinances, and representing county interests at the state and federal levels. They also oversee various county services and departments.

Meals on Wheels, congregate, and grab-and-go meals are available. Meals on Wheels delivery is available for homebound individuals. Suggested donation is $5.00 for individuals 60+ or qualifying persons. Individuals 60 and under meal cost is $7.50. Meal rates can be discussed with the director.

Specialties in eating disorders, depression, anxiety, women's issues, life changes and adjustments, and medical nutrition therapy.

Offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care services offering a range of assistance with activities of daily living for aging residents, including those who have been diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's. Respite Stays are available in most locations except in Rapid City.
