East River Legal Services (ERLS) provides the following services in civil cases: Advocacy Legal Counseling Self-Help Services (Clinics/Workshops/Informational Forms) In-Depth Legal Representation Community Education Housing Retention Specialist Case priorities include support for the family, preserving housing, maintaining economic stability, safety, health, and populations with special vulnerabilities. ERLS provides services to low-income residents with legal issues in the following areas of law: Domestic Violence Victims Elder Law Housing Public Entitlements (i.e. Medicaid, Food Stamps, TANF, WIC) Social Security/SSI Disability Veterans There is no guaranteed acceptance of any case. Serves 10 community partners throughout South Dakota including shelters and 2 Children's Home locations. Through various partners and promotions, including Carters and Scholastic, pajamas and books are donated and distributed to children in need. *Please note, this program is not able to furnish individuals/families with new pajamas or books directly.

Provides Public Health Nursing and Maternal Child Healthcare Services through various programs. General public health services include professional nursing and nutrition information and guidance on health, safety, and nutrition for individuals, families, and communities. Services such as influenza vaccinations and screenings for blood pressure, hearing, vision, and hemoglobin are available at a fee. Maternal Child Healthcare provides Infant Sleep Safety services, immunizations, and pregnancy support services. Infant Sleep Safety services provide education on infant safe sleep practices and link families to resources when the purchase of a crib is a financial hardship. ​Immunizations services are available for children from birth through age 18 for all universally recommended vaccinations including influenza. The Vaccines for Children's Program provides vaccines for children who are uninsured, have insurance that does not cover vaccinations, are Medicaid eligible, or are Native American or Alaskan Native. For families with insurance coverage, the Department of Health is an in-network provider for Sanford, Avera/Dakotacare, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. ​Pregnancy Support Services include regular visits with a nurse to share information about pregnancy, to provide assistance in obtaining early and on-going prenatal care from a qualified healthcare provider, and to link women to resources they may need to support a healthy pregnancy. Teaching topics may include: how your body is changing and how your baby is growing; eating healthy and gaining the right amount of weight; warning signs or symptoms that indicate you should contact your doctor; breastfeeding education and support; and caring for you and your baby after delivery. The Watertown and Sisseton locations are also able to provide car seats for all ages at no cost.

Services include issuing marriage licenses, land records from the late 1800's - present, Vital records including birth, death, and marriage, and Recording of all documents pertaining to real estate such as: plats, deeds, mortgages, and contracts, and also issues drivers licenses. Driver's License Application Information: Only accepts driver license applications/documents for licensing, then issues a paper permit (cards are printed in Pierre then mailed to the applicant weeks later). This office licenses food services, lodging establishments, and campgrounds to assure health and safety standards are met and the public health protected. It handles complaint investigations involving such facilities while routine inspections are conducted by the State Inspection Program in the Department of Public Safety. This office takes complaints about public health issues at a food or lodging establishment or campground in South Dakota. There are 2 options: Complete and submit a complaint form online Call the Office of Health Protection and a staff person will document the complaint information. Each complaint filed should include nature of the complaint, whether the complaint involves illness, location of the complaint (name, address, city and phone), name, address, city and phone number of person making the complaint, whether a response in follow-up to the investigation is desired.

Coteau des Prairies (CDP) Health Care System is a 25-bed, critical access acute care, community non-profit hospital serving approximately 21,000 residents in the Glacial Lakes Region in north east South Dakota, and west central Minnesota.
