Early Childhood provides pre-school activities for 3 and 4 year-old children while encouraging parent participation in all aspects of the program. Early Childhood Programs are offered at a variety of elementary schools in the district. Screenings provide an opportunity to find out more about your young child and his/her development, screenings include: Large muscle development Eye-hand coordination Communication Cognition Vision and hearing Height and weight During screening appointments, children stack small blocks, name colors, jump and hop, cut with scissors, look at pictures, answer questions, and have fun completing other activities. Children birth to 5 are eligible for screening. Infants/toddlers are screened in their homes. Parents will meet with a staff person to discuss options for their child in district early childhood programs.

City Hall also offers a public notary service. The mayor and city council make decisions about the future of the city, act as a board of the local utilities, act as a board of the equalization on property taxes, and make ordinances and regulations. Beresford City Council meets twice a month at City Hall. These meetings are open to the public. If an individual wants to address the council, they should call city hall or email the city administrator. The functions of the City Administrator vary between municipalities, but they generally include overseeing city departments, coordinating between city government departments, and engaging with residents of the city. The Finance Officer oversees all aspects of the City's finances.

Day of Caring is back! Volunteers will gather on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 for a day of beautifying the Huron community. For those unable to join on August 12th, or those more comfortable working on a project on their own, there are other projects available that will be spaced out in both time and space. For nonprofits/agencies wanting to request help with projects, please contact the United Way office or call 605-352-3537. Agencies requesting projects will be lined up with volunteers available during their requested time period. Agencies should indicate on registration form when they are available, and what type of project they would prefer to work on.
